Christmas Eve

Another Christmas song rewritten for the Nokona contest:

1.     It's beginning to look a lot like baseball
Everywhere you go
Take a look at the runner on first, it's pickoff time once again
With baseball bats and hundred mile per hour heaters that glow

It's beginning to look a lot like baseball
Balls in every mitt
But the prettiest sight to see is the catches that will be
caught with Nokona gloves

A pair of slick-fielding pickers and a long-stretching first sacker
Is the wish of the Rangers and the ‘Stros
Pitchers that don’t balk and don’t give up walks
Is the hope of Yankee and Fen(way)
And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for baseball to start again

It's beginning to look a lot like baseball
Everywhere you go
There's a diamond at the school, one at the park as well
It's got astroturf that doesn't mind the snow

It's beginning to look a lot like baseball
Soon the games will start
And the thing that will make 'em sing is the line drives that will fling
Right into your glove

It's beginning to look a lot like baseball
Nokonas in every store
But the prettiest sight to see is the catches that will be
caught by the Nokona glove.

Staying on the go. Sunday school and worship. Watched the Falcons while doing laundry. Leftover for lunch. Nap. Kroger.

Sunday night party with our old small group. Six Murphys, four Halls, five Earharts, five Watkins. Ham, turkey, ham sandwiches, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, salad, rolls, desserts.

Left at nine and drove to Augusta in the rain. Arrived just before midnight. Went straight bed but didn’t sleep well. Had been guzzling diet Mountain Dew to stay awake.
Up and out just after six. Bought the crew Chickfila biscuits, hash browns and coffee. Bacon egg and cheese for me. Got an earlier than usual start to physical inventory and knocked it out. Was pretty much finished by 1030. Usually we don’t finish until after 1 pm. Stopped for gas and CookOut lunch.
On the road west by noon. Traffic heavy. Heavier traffic in Atlanta. GPS got confused. Was almost 3 pm when I pulled into the driveway. Cleaned and mailed some letters and took a nap. Been binge-watching an old TV show I’d never watched before: Parenthood with Craig T Nelson and Lauren Graham: two brothers, two sisters, their families and their parents.
Today: cleaning, resting. A and M and W are working.

Another Nokona song, sung to the tune of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch":
1.     You're the best mitt, Nokona
Your gloves even have a heel
You're as soft as a baby
Not as oily as an eel
Nokona!
2.
You're a monster, Nokona!
Your webbing tightly fastened
Your pocket full of leather
You've got baseball in your soul
Nokona!
3.
Wearing you, a shortstop
4.     has more range than a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole!
You're slick fielding, Nokona!
You’re where hits - will go - to die
You have tender suppleness
unlike a seasick crocodile
Nokona!

Given the choice between the two of you
I'll hit against the seasick crocodile!
You catch foul balls, Nokona!
You're a nasty, fielding ace!
Your feet may be wearing unwashed socks
but your opponents don’t reach base
Nokona!
The three words that best describe you
Are as follows, and I quote
"Great, greater, greatest!"
You catch line drives, Nokona!
You make your opponents cry!
Your padding softens the hard ones
No grounders can get by
Nokona!
