SPdL Blues

Celebrating 40 years since the SPdL Blues won the 1980 North Atlanta Church League Championship. Teammates over the years included Steve Norman, David Hurt, Don Head, Wayne Smith, David McKeithen, Mark Stephens, Ernie Garrison, Jerome Mathis, Val Robinson, Fred Pitts, Darrell Summers, the Small brothers, and others. Who did I leave out?
Late breakfast Saturday morning at home with Ceil, Anna, and Christian after I went out to Trader Joes and Kroger. Bacon, grits, eggs, English muffins. Actually I bought another brand of pork bacon.
Didn't know wedding reception donut walls were a thing.
The Patriots lose a playoff game for the first time in like 15 years and social media is so happy. Goodness gracious people sure hate excellence these days. Even South Carolina native Clay Smith, a self-professed Red Sox, proclaimed from the pulpit that "Tom Brady lost" - hey, it's a team game. Perhaps he was in shock. As perhaps the greatest winner in sports history, I think I'll be obnoxious and start posting pro-pats propaganda.
The Texans won after a miracle escape by QB Deshaun Watson.
Matthew usually brings home all sorts of spicy chips,
but changed up and brought home plain.
Former Bills Packers Panthers receiver Don Beebe trending on Twitter today. He of the huge helmet with extra padding.
Beebe made one of the most famous plays in Super Bowl history, one of my all-time favorites. Cowboys defensive lineman Leon Lett scooped up a fumble and motored down the field, hot-dogging as he nears the goal line.
Little did Lett know that while he looked back to his left to see if any opponents were closing, Beebe was racing down the sideline to Lett's right. Just before Lett crossed the goal line the big lineman held out his arms, with the ball extended out to his right. Just then Beebe got close enough to knock the ball away. Instead of a Cowboys touchdown, thanks to Beebe's hustle the Bills got the ball on the twenty.
Several photos of Beebe getting knocked on his head in Cleveland.
Perhaps that's why he wore the padded helmet.
