First Bite: Beetlecat

Had a wonderful meal at Beetlecat last night.
Anna and Matthew don't know where to start.
Our Italian waiter Simone did an outstanding job.
The staff signed a menu for Ceil.
Delicious coconut pie and vanilla ice cream.
Had a great meal last night at Beetlecat, the Inman Park restaurant where Matthew works. Picked up Ceil after work and drove downtown. Met Anna and Matthew there. Though he had sampled several dishes, it was M’s first real meal there.

M helped order several appetizers and dishes that he shared with C and Anna. Ceil, Anna, & Matthew each took home leftovers.…

Bok Choy: habanero vinegar, crispy shallots, & parmesan, which I sampled.

Salt & Pepper Squid, with onion & jalapeno on cabbage. Yes, I tried this as well.

Conch Fritters with pepper aioli was brought to us by the staff.

Shrimp Sugo with spicy noodle & thai herbs, also from the staff.

Salmon in miso broth, dashi butter, & scallions. Tasted wonderful.

Moqueca Stew with shrimp, dayboat fish, coconut, jalapeno, cashews, & rice.

Redfish with kabocha squash & pepitas in charred onion oil.

Truffle Potato Puree, which I finished off.

The double cheeseburger was the only thing on the menu my allergies would allow, but it was excellent. Great beef and bun, and so much lettuce and tomato that I should’ve taken some off. Tremendous crispy waffle fries, seasoned perfectly.

For dessert our Italian waiter Simone brought out a slice of heavenly coconut pie and scoop of ice cream, also from the staff. The service was superb. The manager, hostess, and other employees stopped by to check on us. With dessert they presented Ceil with a menu signed by the entire staff.

The tables were spaced far enough apart for adequate social distancing. Speakers played upbeat music. The evening would have only been more perfect if W&MC had been able to join us. Will had to work and MC had to finish a project before out of town company arrived.

Back home Ceil went to bed. She had gotten up extra early to check on the news. I stayed up a little longer, but didn’t bother turning on the TV.
