The Great Reset?

Evidently Time magazine still exists. They recently announced “The Great Reset” to usher in World Socialism. Much more scary than any Halloween costume I saw Saturday night. Seeks to “advance socialist ideals, including the destruction of capitalism and individual rights.” and “The name of the game now is to bring the United States economy to its knees.” My question: do they really think China is going to cooperate? Russia? Only enough to destroy the USA.

China is not going to go broke trying to clean up their own pollution. Air quality in the US has gotten better. Why should the US go broke paying to clean up China’s air?

Some are saying Christians should have no problem with socialism. I am not convinced. Yes I am supposed to walk a second mile with my neighbor, and give him the coat off my back - but it’s not the government’s job to give my coat to my neighbor. Our government should not go broke by providing for the rest of the world, for non-citizens ahead of caring for citizens. Articles like these call for a world that excludes God. Is this what people really want? I suppose so.

Guy I know in the Christian media posts his thoughts on today’s political landscape. Many are quick to support his musings. If someone be bold enough to disagree, or voice a differing opinion, this guy is quick to use his God-given writing skills to shout that opponent down, to cancel them right there on social media. Calls them names, labels and belittles them. How did Jesus respond to his adversaries? How did Jesus respond to Rome?

The Bob Ross bobblehead - several minor league teams gave one out, including the Daytona Tortugas.

As usual I have forgotten what happened on Friday. Finished up a big project right at 5 pm, which was good. Home for dinner (black beans and rice) and the Hallmark Channel.

Saturday morning I did a little cleaning upstairs, including cleaning out some of the boy’s bedroom closet. Went downstairs for College Gameday. Ceil scrambled eggs and cooked grits. I made a breakfast quesadilla. Watched more of the Clemson game than UGA, because Trevor Lawrence was out and every first half bounce went Boston College’s way. As I suspected, Clemson came back to win.

Started watching NotreDame@GT but out power went out. Went outside and got ready for Halloween, raking the entire front yard. Got maybe 20 small trick-or-treaters. For almost all I took the candy out toward the street to them. One group walked past when I had rushed inside to get their candy, but I got them on the way back. Had a bunch of candy left over: 15 unopened seven-packs of Butterfingers plus a whole big bowlful of “fun sized” candy bars.

Ceil touched up the paint in Matthew’s old room before cooking supper: baked chicken, mashed potatoes, and spinach. I saved some of the spinach in case another trick-or-treater rang the bell, but no more did. Watched another Hallmark Channel movie. Now they are all Christmas themed. Later I read a GT grad now heads up the Hallmark Channel. Perhaps that’s why Hallmark movie characters are beginning to look just like the characters on every other channel.

On line Sunday School. Later housework, cleaning out the garage and moving furniture into Matthew’s old bedroom, now Ceil’s art room. Hopefully this will get all the stuff out of the living and dining rooms. Began clearing out Anna’s bedroom as well. Homemade smash-burgers and baked French fries with tossed salad for supper. Another Hallmark movie. Didn’t watch much NFL.

JOHN OLERUD [SABR Bio] a former player for both the Mets and Yankees, did so well in college that he was recently named the Player of the 20th Century by his university’s conference, one of the biggest in the country. Played for Washington State University and had numerous accolades in the PAC-12. For example, during the 1988 season, Olerud pitched to a perfect 15-0 record with 23 homers en route to Pac-10 Player of the Year and Baseball America College Athlete of the Year honors. A decade after his major league career, the PAC-12 formed a 36-member blue ribbon panel. They cast their ballots for 20 infielders/outfielders, 10 pitchers as well as Pitcher, Player and Coach of the Century.  USC's Mark Prior was named Pitcher of Century, Olerud was awarded Player of the Century honors and USC's legendary manager Rod Dedeaux was selected as the Coach of the Century.

Olerud played for five teams in the majors, but was only traded once. His only trade was on 20-Dec-1996 from TOR to NYM for Robert Person.  Signed as a free agent by NYM, SEA, NYY & BOS. The year he led the American League in intentional bases-on-balls, he led the majors in doubles. In 1994 he had 54 2B and 33 IBB.
