Back in Green

Good news/bad news: the Philadelphia Eagles announced they will wear their beloved kelly green throwbacks - in 2023, due to long lead times to stock up on replica jerseys for fans to buy. The throwbacks will replicate the green jerseys worn in the early 90's, when Herschel was gaining a thousand yards per year for them. This season the Eagles will wear black alternate helmets and jerseys - like half the other teams in the NFL, college, high school, and peewee. Real original.

Tiger Woods and son Charlie played twelve holes at Augusta National yesterday, walking the course with caddies. He’s still trying to decide whether to play next week. Perhaps he will play just to give his kids the chance to see him play in the Masters again.

Tuesday: I didn’t really want to, but stayed at the office finishing up work until almost 6 pm. Stopped by McDonalds for their dollar deal: large Coke Zero and Chickfila-type sandwich for one dollar. Hard to beat.

Stopped by Dollar Tree, where everything is $1.25. Their laundry detergent container is now half the size it used to be. Then stopped by Kroger for one item, and walked out with five.  Saw my friend Robert, the huge Braves fan known as The Chief. Was well after 7 pm when I got home.

Spent 30 minutes chipping my plastic golf balls. Got inside in time for Final Jeopardy. Did not know the Lady Macbeth question. Also watched the show about young Dwayne Johnson, how his dad used to wrestle professionally with Tony Atlas, against Jake the Snake. I remember them, but not Dwayne Johnson’s father.

Another new low weight this morning. Getting close to the 20 pound mark. Lifted weights at the gym this morning, then back home to work. Lots of month end stuff in addition to the usual.

Winnie was itching to go outside, but she just wanted to chase squirrels. Then her retriever friend Lightning happened by, so she got to play with him a bit.

IDEA: perhaps we should adopt a child, so they would be around to help me with new technologies for the next 18 years.

Sports: a high school track athlete between events wasn’t paying attention to what was going on around him, and wandered out on the track during a race. A runner in the race had to push him out of the way. The athlete ran the runner down and sucker punched him.

A trial in Finland could have a worldwide effect on the legality of preaching the Gospel of Christ.

Shoeless JOE JACKSON  [SABR Bio] has the highest career batting average for two American League franchises. In 6 seasons each, Jackson accumulated career averages of .375 for Cleveland and .340 for the White Sox. For the Indians, Tris Speaker is in second place, 21 points behind. Second on the South Side is Eddie Collins at .331. In his first thousand major league at-bats Joe racked up 389 hits, a record he still holds. Babe Ruth called Jackson “the most natural and graceful hitter who ever lived.”

Denison’s biblical response to the new law in Florida, which limits what can be taught to children in kindergarten to third grade. Disney had a quite different response.
