Lip-Outs

Historically Tiger seems to have had more lip-outs than most other golfers. Is it because his misses are closer to going in than others?

We had the Masters on the TVs at the office today. No sound. Considering all the rain that fell yesterday, the course looked relatively dry.

Got home from work yesterday and turned on the Par Three Tourney. The TV had been paused, so I got to see action from earlier in the afternoon. Where else can you see great from the seven decades compete against other? Gary Player, Nick Faldo, Larry Mize, Tom Watson, and several others. Nicklaus has retired from the Par Three Tourney, saying he had let all 22 grandchildren caddie for him (also his wife and children).

A course official was wearing a cool green Par Three cap. Saw a khaiki colored one from 2017 on eBay, along with a few other Par Three flags, pins, etc. Last week Tiger and Charlie played the par three course. The kid wasn’t used to such sloped greens.

Saw at least three golfers wearing pink today. Shirt. Vest. Pants. Must be the new cool color for spring.

Ceil cooked homemade orange chicken, breading each piece before cooking. Very good. Watched extended Masters coverage on ESPN with Scott Van Pelt, Sean McDonough, and Curtis Strange.

Gotta get back to the diet harder. Tuesday I drank a protein shake for breakfast, ate one cookie and small brownie for a late lunch. On the way home I grabbed two small McChicken sandwiches at McDonalds (their crispy chicken sandwich went off special). Later a tiny bag of chips and popcorn. Today I had one small brownie for breakfast and one donut for lunch. Nothing else until supper. Still more than I have been eating.

Crashed on the couch again Tuesday night. Currently reading Moneyball, the book about Oakland A’s GM Billy Beane that was made into a Brad Pitt movie.

Not sure why I’ve felt so sore all this week. Maybe because I’ve not done much in the evening. Knocked out my 3.5 miles this morning at the gym, with a time slightly better than Tuesday.

Other topics of discussion in our office today: which Golden Girl would you want to be? I would say Blanch, just because she has the coolest name.

These days everyone is buzzing about a game that’s played on their cell phone called Wordle. I think Lang plays it. At least one new puzzle a day, trying to guess the word by guessing letters. I think people only post on social media when they guess the word in only a few steps. No posts of wrong answers. I’m sure it is a good game to play, but whenever I see everyone playing the same game, I think about the episode of Star Trek Next Generation when everyone was playing an addictive game, that was actually an alien that was taking over the bodies of the entire crew. The robot Data wasn’t affected, and had to save the day.

I get a ton of emails in my yahoo account because I enter so many contests. When I’m watching TV I will go through and delete delete delete, checking to make sure I don’t get a winner notification, so the emails don’t pile up too much. Had I been checking better I could’ve scored Hawks tickets.

So the Lakers missed the playoffs, right? I don’t think they have anyone on their roster under 32 years old. They had wanted me to, but I turned them down.

Right now Chickfila also has a BBQ version of the CFA sandwich available. I think it has bacon. Not sure about cheese.

ROBERTO CLEMENTE  [SABR Bio] struck out four times in the All-Star game the same year he led the majors in hitting. In the 15-inning 1967 ASG four different pitchers struck him out: Dean Chance, Gary Peters, Al Downing, and Catfish Hunter. No one else has ever struck out four times in an All-Star game. Familiar with back pain himself, he practiced chiropractic on some of his teammates. A car crash in 1954 was the initial cause of his back pain. He found that a good chiropractor could ease the pain.  Eventually, he became somewhat adept as an amateur practitioner with what was called “natural skills.” He had the most hits in the majors from 1960 through 1969 (1,877).

DENISON: Before Jalen Wilson led Kansas to the men's title, he tweeted, "Thank you God, without your blessings I wouldn't have any of this."

Roads in Augusta weren't paved until after WWII - including Washington Road and Magnolia Lane.
