Batting Practice

At lunch Friday I went with coworker Crazy John to the batting cages at Malibu Grand Prix, off I-85 near Indian Trail Road. I did okay considering I hadn’t hit in years, and my eyes aren’t what they used to be. Really only hit one good line drive. I need to take you there for the putt putt – just say when! The Malibu putt putt wasn’t much like the old official putt putt courses like they had in Chamblee, with the orange borders. But Malibu wasn’t too outrageous, like some are these days. Some are inside, with dark lighting and glow in the dark stuff, and probably loud music.

Worked past 5:30 Thursday night, and I was really getting caught up (then today has been super busy). When I got home I started feeling bad. Headache and tired. Was worried, then remembered yesterday was my first day in weeks with zero caffiene, hadn’t had much to eat all day, and I’d been hitting the gym hard this week. I took a short nap before supper.

Ceil cooked chicken tenders, baked potatoes, and steamed broccoli. I started to feel better once I got some food in me. We watched Martha Stewart’s Tag Sale special. Interesting.

Hopefully I won’t be too sore after that workout in the batting cages today. Friday morning I ran four miles. Finally getting my weight down close to a new low.

JIM THOME  [SABR Bio] holds the major league record for career walk-off home runs, with 13. Of the sluggers with more than 600 career home runs, he is the only one who never won an MVP award. His highest MVP finish was 4th place playing for the 2003 Phillies. He homered in 38 ballparks – Coors Field was not one of them. Most were at Jacobs Field, with 190. He only had 33 plate attempts in Colorado.
