The Boys

Reading a great book The Boys, by Ron and Clint Howard, about growing up in their family and how they fell into show business as a result of having actors for parents. Yet they all managed to remain grounded, attending public schools. Ron played high school basketball, and used his experience coaching his brother's teams later as a film director.

Lots of behind the scenes info about The Andy Griffin Show, The Music Man, Bonanza, MASH, Gentle Ben, and other productions. Their dad Rance coached them in acting, and often played bit parts on several of the shows. Rance had a regular part on Gentle Ben, and wrote several of the episodes. He also wrote several episodes of the Flintstones, and an idea young Ronnie had was also developed into a Flintstones episode.

Ron cast his mother in small roles in Cocoon and Apollo 13. Clint had a recurring role on Andy Griffin. One of Clint's first roles as a child was playing an alien on an early Star Trek episode, making him legendary among Trekkies at their conventions.
Guy that I went to the batting cage with on Friday said he has come down with a bug, but I feel fine.

Braves are heating up. As several said previously, they needed to make hay through this part of the schedule - and they have. Good starting pitching, and dAurnald is swinging the bat well.

2-3 over Phillies
2-3 over Marlins
1-3 in Arizona
3-3 in Colorado so far
8-12 total, a 75% clip. Braves are back at .500 for the first time since April.
Golf Saturday AM. Made a par on the first hole, a par four.
When I got home I went on a 2-1/2 mile walk with C, Winnie, and Okie. Had 11,000 steps by 10:30 am. That night my legs were cramping.
Stopped in Augusta for supper at Rineharts Oyster Bar. Ceil got the Cajun shrimp. I got a grilled chicken sandwich with peppers onions mushrooms cheese. My buddy Josh the office in Norcross was at the next table.
Hung around Jefferson on Sunday, visiting aunt uncle Rusty Kelly Phil Teresa Chuck Jackie. Subway for lunch. Chipped balls for an hour. Rusty grilled steaks for supper. Below: Uncle Lennie's sailboat, back in the day.
