No Purchase Required

Most sweepstakes do not require a purchase. Nerd that I am, I recently checked out a Ford Bronco sweepstakes where purchases gained enty into the sweepstakes. To enter without purchase you have to hand write a 150 word essay on a 3x5 card…

"No Purchase" Method of Entry: To enter the Sweepstakes without making a payment, handprint your name, email address, phone number, and the words: Freespirit Recreation Vehicle Sweepstakes and a unique, handwritten 150-word essay about your favourite camping experience on a 3" x 5" card and mail it with sufficient postage in a stamped #10 envelope to: Freespirit Recreation Vehicle Sweepstakes c/o RAVEN5, B9-461 North Service Road W., Oakville, Ontario, L6M 2V5. Each Mail-in Entry earns the entrant 20 entries into the Sweepstakes. Limit of one Mail-in Entry per postmarked envelope. All Mail-In Entries must be handwritten and must be received by September 30, 2022. No mechanically reproduced Mail-In Entries are permitted. All Mail-in Entries become the exclusive property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Limit 600 entries per person.

I had a busy month end on Thursday. Got a lot done. Set a record for June. Worked past six. Then I stopped by the auto parts store and Kroger. Didn't get home until almost 7:45. Ceil made me a breakfast quesadilla and cheesy grits for supper. Was after 8:30 before I finally sat down.

M came come from his friend's visitation in Smyrna, and sat with us for a spell. This morning he's at the funeral. The public address announcer at Truist Park died unexpectedly in his sleep this week. Hearing more and more stories like this. It just can't be a coincidence. Bill Dukes died this morning. Bill Reed isn't doing so well. And buddy Steve's dad had a stroke. They're all older, but Anna had a friend that died unexpectedly this week as well.

Nice of the Reds to honor Casey last night before the series opener.

Another new low weight for me this morning. Working in the office really helps. I skipped the gym both yesterday and today. Legs still sore. Otherwise I feel fine. Got a busy weekend.

Ceil fixed me another quesadilla for breakfast. Leftover Moxie for lunch.

More on the Freddie Freeman story - further proof the Braves did not "let Freeman walk". And I still don't why some people don't like Dansby. He might not be the greatest shortstop in history. He may only be a borderline all-star. Maybe people don't like him because he has better hair than they do. How do people luv Freddie, as undecisive as he is?

But even if the Braves were to "break the bank" for Dansby, his agent (the same one Freddie had) probably wouldn't tell Swanson about it.

TONY La RUSSA  [SABR Bio] is a former Braves infielder. His career batting average fell just shy of the career Mendoza line - .199. Although he made the majors at age 18, he didn't play in a home opener until he was 26. He debuted with the Royals in 1963 then spent the next five years in the minors, finally suiting up for Oakland on 07‑Apr‑1971. In his capacity of major league manager, he has presided over more victories than any other manager who didn't also own the team. La Russa's managerial win total of 2,855 trails only the legendary Connie Mack and his wind-aided 3,731.

DENISON: we need to understand the role of the Supreme Court. Members of Congress, as representatives of the people who elected them, make the laws of our nation. The courts are responsible for interpreting these laws and ensuring they align with the Constitution. Therefore the Supreme Court could not consider whether Dobbs would make women safer or less safe. Its only responsibility was to decide the case on the basis of the Constitution and existing laws of the land. Constitutional attorney David French noted, "The Court's job is not to determine which rights we should possess but rather which rights we do possess" (his emphases).

The Court does this by focusing on "enumerated" and "unenumerated" rights. Enumerated: rights clearly specified in the Constitution, such as the responsibility of the government to collect taxes and to regulate commerce. Unenumerated: rights that are applications of enumerated rights, such as the right to travel within the country and the presumption of innocence in criminal cases. The majority found that federal protection of abortion cannot be defended in either way. Only if abortion were decided by constitutional amendment would it rise to the level of constitutional provision. As a result, regulating abortion is a matter for Congress and the states to decide.

I gotta join this club. A bargain at twice the price.
