$3.328 per gallon average for the Civic. MPV records are incomplete, but it costs over six cents per mile more to drive the MPV than the Civic. It cost over $700.00 more to drive 3,144 fewer miles in the MPV.
We drove almost 5600 fewer miles in 2012 than 2011, partially due to Will having a car. While MPV miles remained constant, the drop came in the Civic miles…almost 150 fewer gallons. This explains why the overall auto spend remained constant. With fewer highway miles, Civic MPG dropped from 34.7 to 33.5. New tires will hopefully increase 2013 MPG.
