Passion 2013

Sunday afternoon we all went to Passion City Church. It was a service celebrating God's work the previous week at the Passion 2013 Conference. Testimonies, singing, etc.

After the Chickfila Bowl crowd had left the Dome by 1 am New Year's Day, the Passion team moved in and set up a 300,000 pound video & light display…the largest and heaviest object ever hung from the roof of the Georgia Dome. The previous heaviest object had been 250,000 pounds. The setup was completed in about 14 hours, something the Georgia Dome people didn't think could get done (they were also amazed at how the conference moved 60,000 people from the dome to the congress center all at one time, several times per day). They also showed the story CNN broadcast about the event.

Saw where one of the Miami basketball players was the son of Tico Brown, who was the star player at Tech when I was a freshman in 77-78.

Friday was busy, I worked til 5:30, then drove straight home. Johnny Football continued to amaze in the Cotton Bowl. Ceil and Matthew cooked wings. I had leftovers from lunch: homemade chicken noodle soup.

Saturday we did laundry and watched bits of the football games. Matthew wanted to go to a thrift store to look for old CD's. I bought a flannel shirt and Joe Torre's autobiography. Also stopped by Kroger, so it was a five errand trip.

Returned home and noticed a tire in the van was almost flat. Around 9:45 pm, I drove five miles to QT to get air. The air hose was broken, so I drove three more miles to another QT. It was drizzling, but I needed air. After ten minutes of pumping the tire pressure had gone up a little, but I finally figured out that this air hose was bad as well. Drove three more miles to a third QT on Cobb Parkway, and the hose worked great. Didn't get home until after eleven, all wet from the rain.

Along the way I jammed my left ring finger. It seemed ok at the time, but Sunday I noticed it had swollen up. I was barely able to pull the ring off. Still sore today.

Saturday night Mary-Clayton came over for dinner. Ceil grilled chicken, and cooked scalloped potatoes and steamed a vegetable melody. The kids played Monopoly, then we watched videos of when Will was a baby. Also watched some of the 1991 Camp SPdL video that Lang had filmed. Young Claire sang in the talent show, and Anna snapped her picture and sent it to Caroline Hargreaves.
