James Alsher from The Sports Cheat Sheet website noted five teams that need a helmet makeover: the Bills, Eagles, Falcons, Saints, and Steelers, in his opinion. But not the two-tone Jaguars (above). He couldn’t be any more wrong.
James doesn’t understand how the NFL operates. The League is not Oregon, cranking out one outrageous look after another. The NFL likes to find a good-looking uniform and then stick with it, so fans can turn on a game and know who’s playing. Right now that’s not the case in college football. Week after week and year after year teams look different – unrecognizable even. Why would a fan buy a $300.00 jersey if the team will never wear it again? Not to mention how often players change teams.
If any helmet changes are needed I have listed them below. Most are minor.
Bears: if anything make the C all white.
Bengals: a great helmet.
Bills: white charging buffalo helmet with grey masks.
Browns: quick – change back to the grey masks!
Broncos: just an average helmet.
Buccaneers: a decent helmet.
Cardinals: a perfect helmet. OK to make logo a little bigger.
Chargers: change back to a white helmet, bolts without so much trim, numbers, and a grey mask.
Chiefs: a perfect helmet.
Cowboys: a perfect helmet.
Dolphins: an ok helmet. If anything go back to the old logo.
Eagles: change the silver wings? Are you crazy? Note: silver wings go great with grey facemasks.
Falcons: the guy makes a point – the black falcon doesn’t stand out on a black helmet. A better fix: red helmet, current falcon, stripes (gold, white, and black), and grey masks.
49ers: remove black trim from logo.
Giants: a perfect helmet.
Jaguars: rename the team and start over.
Jets: change masks to grey or white.
Lions: change masks to grey to match the helmet. Remove black trim (and the white trim as well?). A larger lion logo would be ok as well.
Packers: change masks to grey.
Panthers: change masks to grey to match the helmet. Remove the panthers weird triangular neck thing.
Patriots: change masks to grey to match the helmet. Or switch back to the white Pat Patriot helmet.
Raiders: a perfect helmet.
Rams: keep them horns!
Ravens: the black bird doesn’t stand out on black helmet. Purple helmet?
Redskins: their longtime look is ok, even the ugly yellow masks. Changing back to the spear would be cool. Also need grey masks.
Saints: gold helmet looks good. Grey mask would look better than black. A black helmet would look good, but too many other teams already have black helmets.
Seahawks: ok as is.
Steelers: a timeless classic – don’t change.
Texans: generic but ok.
Titans: need white masks for a cleaner look, perhaps a larger logo.
Vikings: need a huge horn.
