Helluva Game

Drove up to Rome Friday afternoon for the first-ever Ronald Acuna bobblehead giveaway. The socks didn't lie.
With so many early-birds and only one thousand to be had,
the bobbles were hard to get.
With teamwork we scored six of the seven we'd hoped for.
Still, Alan was steamed the team enforced rules
to make sure as many fans as possible got bobbles.
Before the game Alan wanted to hang out in the club
only box seat ticketholders could frequent.
Saw some Braves/Rockies on the TV
but missed the on field pregame activities.
Since I drove, Alan bought box seats so we could enter the stadium early. Section 101 row 2 seats 1 and 2. Turned out the bobble-hunting Maldinado family from Gwinnett County had the seats next to us.
One or two of the Hagerstown Suns' on deck hitters
would cheat over behind the plate to better gauge the pitcher.
Tried hard to come up with different photos to post.
Both teams committed numerous errors - the Suns more than the Braves - but this time the Suns successfully executed a rundown
to retire the wayward Rome runner.
Wore my new green Braves St. Patrick's Day jersey
with ACUNA 82 on the back.
Arriving at our seats late, I noticed many eyes on me.
One of the Suns was hit in the helmet with a pitch,
creating a hush over the crowd.
Reminded me of the time the Orioles' John Lowenstein
was knocked unconscious by an errant throw, only to rise off the stretcher
to acknowledge the politely-applauding crowd.
Obligatory panoramic photo. I told the young Maldinado boys
should they ever get hit in the head with a pitch,
once they get up and head to first,
a fun thing to do would be to to slow, wobble,
then fake a collaspe and fall back to the ground. Or not.
Lots of pictures of the batter, catcher, and umpire.
We left after the seventh-inning stretch, at 8:45.
Mascot Romey wanted to take a picture.
Drove Alan back across town to Sugarloaf Mills,
so my normal hour-long trip home instead took two.
Got home and sold two Acunas for a decent price.
