After last year’s Sugar Bowl Texas QB Sam Ellinger said the Horns were back. Now he’s making excuses for a 7-5 season, and fans aren’t having it. Tim Tebow he ain’t.
Georgia Tech is making posts on social media about how much fun the players had this season. I’m sure all the fans who spent all their hard-earned money buying tickets are glad the players had a good time. Jackets only tallied seven first downs, and only scored after the dropped punt return football was accidentally kicked way down into the red zone. That was a good call by Collins to go for the onside kick. UGA almost scored two or three more touchdowns and missed a field goal. Score could’ve easily been 68-0. Not bad for a team struggling on offense, playing a good part of the game without three of their best players.

Right now one GT player leads the NCAA in three point percentage (61%), and another leads in blocks. Heck that three point shooter has a better percentage from long range than the team does from the foul line (56%).
Braves announced three bobblehead games for April: McCann on Monday April 6 and Albies then Acuna on Friday April 17 and 24. I hate Friday games and have a commitment on April 24. People are already pre-selling them. Some people hated that the Braves gave away so many bobbleheads last year. Other teams give out more. We’ll see.
Was busy last Tuesday morning. Work was busy. I had forgotten lunch. Chickfila.
Wednesday: C went to the grocery. Anna and Christian arrived. Then W&MC, Okie, and Matthew arrived. Barney has had to be put up in the bedroom so he doesn’t hurt himself playing with the other dogs. Drove A&C and M up to pick up Pizza Hut for supper. Later I made a late grocery run.
Thursday breakfast C cooked grits, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and gluten free scones. Watched the Today Show and Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. Had chili and potato soup for lunch. Soup for supper. Watched more football than usual: CHI/DET, DAL/BUF, and ATL/NO.
Friday: big meal at 1 pm. All the traditional Thanksgiving foods. Saw a little of Iowa/Nebraska and Washington/Washington State to check out the kickers competing for the Lou Groza Award. PM: watched Incredibles 2.
Saturday: football all day: ESPN College Gameday, GT/GA, a little SC/Clemson, AL/Auburn, OK/OK State. Tailgate food: Bojangles chicken tenders, chips, and dips. Also got caught up on a bunch of computer work.
Sunday: home. Ceil ran a few errands. Lifetime movies.
Monday: stopped by Taco Bell. Drove to my appointment. Found a cheap Braves cap but it looked terrible on my head so I passed. Got an eggnog milkshake at Cook Out. Later ate dinner: ravioli in meat sauce with salad. Passed on the breadsticks. Drove home, arriving before 9:30. M had cooked spicy chicken lettuce wraps, taco soup, and a pumpkin dish. I was cold and tired from the long day, and went to bed.
Tuesday lunch: Bojangles bacon, egg, & cheese biscuit. After work I’ll go to the Y. Might work a little late first. Y today and tomorrow but will be busy Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.
TOMMY JOHN [SABR Bio] was a teammate of both Hall of Famers Early Wynn and Deion Sanders. In his first MLB year in CLE in 1963, veteran pitcher Early Wynn was one of his teammates. Was a teammate of Sanders with NYY in Deion’s first season in the majors, 1989. Was a teammate of NFL HOF Sanders on the 1989 NYY, Deion’s debut season, but John’s last. Only Nolan Ryan and Cap Anson played more major league seasons than Tommy John’s 26 [Further research has revealed that the Yanks released John 30-May-1989 - one day before the LA Times says they called up Sanders.]
Although he pitched mostly left-handed, he claims his right arm should be credited for his last 164 wins after he took a year off. John earned 164 of his 286 wins after his famous surgery, performed by Dr. Frank Jobe in September 1974. It was deemed necessary after John permanently damaged his left ulnar collateral ligament. A tendon from his right forearm was transplanted into his left elbow and the rest is history. While in high school, he had been recruited by Adolph Rupp to play basketball for the University of Kentucky. He might have played on national championship basketball teams at Kentucky, but he did get to play in 3 World Series, 1977, 78 & 81.
