Tiger Peyton Phil Tom

The Tiger & Peyton vs Phil & Tom Brady match has a date and network: May 24 on TBS, with Ernie Johnson on the call. They'll play one format for the first nine holes and a different one on the back nine, to raise money for Covid relief. Plus various "side bets" along the way to raise extra money. You'll be able to hear everything the golfers say. Looking forward to it. Yesterday Phil was showing off his trophy from the last Tiger/Phil match so Tiger said "Just a sec" and grabbed his green Masters jacket.

Met fans are celebrating today's four year anniversary of Bartolo Colon's home run, hit on the road in the second inning of a 2-0 game. They're saying it's the greatest play in sports history. Not even the most famous home run by a pitcher in a Mets game.

Few remember the home run hit against the Mets in the early morning hours of July 5, 1985, with the Braves losing 11-10 and down to their last strike, in the bottom of the 18th inning at 3:22 am, hit by a career .060 hitter – pitcher Rick Camp. Colon finished his career batting .084, though his average was higher when he hit his home run.

Cut the grass after work yesterday and have been sneezing ever since. Seems dustier when I use the mower bagging attachment, then I get the dust again when I dump out the bag. I know it's best to leave the cuttings on the lawn to act as fertilizer, but we've been putting the clipping in back to help expand Ceil's flower garden.

Supper was stir fry chicken and rice with mixed vegetables, and tossed salad. Not much on TV but one show we have been watching is The Tonight Show. Jimmy Fallon has been making the shows from home, with his wife as the camera operator, using her phone. Sometimes they walk around their neighborhood answering questions that people have sent in. Jimmy talks to guests over the internet, and musical performers play from home.

Jerry Seinfeld has a new Netflix special, so I need to watch that as well.

JOE DeMAESTRI  [SABR Bio] took over for Kubek at shortstop in the 1960 World Series when… well, you know. In the 8th inning of Game 7, DeMaestri took over at SS for regular NYY SS after Tony Kubek was struck in the throat by a bad-hop ground ball hit by Bill Virdon. Virdon's ball was ruled a hit. DeMaestri finished the inning, but no ball was hit in his direction. He was replaced at SS in the 9th to watch Mazeroski's WS-ending HR from the NYY bench. Joe made the All-Star squad halfway through his career but didn't see any action - AL AS in 1957. He grew up in a middle-class neighborhood that is now some of the most expensive real estate in North America - in San Rafael, Marin County, California. He called his first manager in the majors "brilliant". He called his second manager, "…the worst manager and worst person I ever played for". DeMaestri's first MLB team was CHW managed by Paul Richards. His second team and second manager were the St. Louis Browns with Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby at the helm. DeMaestri's assessment of the great Rajah was shared by most, if not all, of his teammates.
