Night at the Ballpark

Beautiful night at Truist Park this evening, perfect for taking in the Braves/Marlins game at The Battery. There hasn't been enough said about Braves fans gathering outside the stadium to watch games, but I finally realized this was the only way I could extend my streak of 18 straight years of attending a Braves game (and 31 of the past 32 years).

Arrived in time to set down my lawn chair, visit the Clubhouse Store, and take a short walk around the park. I figured the crowd would be smaller on a Tuesday than the weekend, but a cornhole league was having matches on the green.

The Omni Hotel had several guests

out on the balconies watching the game.

 The Braves telecast was aired on the big screen

on the Georgia Power stage.

Saw my young friend Phillip at the game. He was nice enough to come over at sit with me for a few innings. I see Phillip at just about every game I attend. He works at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Sandy Springs.

If Phillip looks familiar its because his cardboard cutout is right behind home plate, in the front row. I asked him about it, and he said he didn't do anything special, but perhaps some Braves employee he knew saw his cutout and placed it up front.

Wore my new Donaldson home jersey,

home cap, and Puma RS-X sneakers.

 Looked lonely on the mezzanine.

Recently learned fans can reserve a table for four in the Chop House inside the gates, to watch the game - for $600.00 a table. Includes a Fox Brothers BBQ buffet and non alcoholic drinks. Too rich for my blood.

For those worried about a lack of social distancing, this panoramic photo was my attempt at showing how there was plenty of room between my chair and those around me. Plenty of masks as well.

Though there was plenty of interstate traffic on the way to the game, the evening was way less stressful than attending a regular game. So easy to park for free in the Battery Red Lot, just one hundred yards away from my "seat". No traffic or crowds. Perhaps I'll go back week after next.

Construction continues on Cobb County's tallest building, in the Battery at the corner of Cobb Parkway and 285. The building will have an outside elevator on the southern wall for visitors to ride, to see views of downtown Atlanta and Stone Mountain. At the base of the building is the pedestrian bridge that crosses 285 to the Cobb Galleria.
