Yellow Jacket Insider

Sounds like Tech’s star big man will miss the first round NCAA tournament game tomorrow against Loyola. The lower ranked Jackets are already the underdog, Doesn’t bode well for Tech.

Speaking of the Jackets, a Tech fan protested when all pro Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker wasn’t included on a list of the 50 top college kickers from the last 20 years. I reminded the fan that Butker only made a pitiful 65% of his field goals during his first three seasons on the flats, and only finished with a 71% success rate.

For St. Patrick’s Day the Braves wore green caps. Some wore green socks. Looks like the Uni Watch blog no longer refers to the team as the Braves, calling them “Atlanta” instead.

Wednesday: worked from before 8 am to after six. Was on the phone too much, including on the way home, a time I can usually escape from reality for a while. Did get a decent amount of work done.

Steve and Beth had sent over dinner of comfort food: roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, rolls, salad, and delicious butterscotch bars for dessert. A welcome diversion from the regular routine. I know Ceil appreciated it as well. So nice to have friends be by your side in times of need.

Watched the end of Jeopardy. Katie Couric simply lacks the energy to be a good host. Much too laid back. Looking forward to watching Aaron Rodgers take his turn at the podium. Ken Jennings appears to be the leader in the clubhouse.

Went to bed before 9:30. Last night’s dream: our company had inhabited a large secret cave north of Forsyth. Bigwigs visited, but were unable to pinpoint the location on a map. To save the company money they wanted to build a long underground highway from Norcross to the cave, so trucks wouldn’t get stuck in traffic. I tried to change their minds, reminding them of all the money Boston had sunk into the big dig.

SATCHEL PAIGE  [SABR Bio] was the oldest rookie to debut in the Majors since the end of World War II. The accuracy of Paige’s birthdate has never been certain because, as he claimed, “A goat ate the bible with my birth certificate in it”.  Baseball-Reference has accepted 07-Jul-1906 as his birthday, making him 42 years, 2 days old at his MLB debut 09-July-1948. He played Sgt. Tobe Sutton in the 1959 western, The Wonderful Country. On 25-Sept-1965, Paige’s three innings pitched for KCA made him, at 59 years, 2 months and 18 days, the oldest pitcher ever to play a game in the major leagues.  Before the game, he sat in the bullpen in a rocking chair while a nurse rubbed liniment into his pitching arm for the entire crowd to see.  Paige set down each of the first eleven BOS batters except Carl Yastrzemski, who hit a double.

The Patriots have gone on an uncharacteristic free agent spending spree. Some wonder if Bill Belichick left his dog Nike at the controls again.
