Hail Delay

Tonight's Braves game was called on account of hail (we didn't get any at our house, a few miles east of the park). They'll play a "traditional" doubleheader tomorrow, except both are 7-inning games. Friday night Dansby made the play of the game.
Austin Riley is playing All-Star ball.
Hideki Matsuyama's caddie, Shota Hayafuji, opens up about his Masters bow. Content you can only find on the Caddie Network Group, which blesses me with their emails. As usual, you can buy the t-shirt.

More on the Masters: there is a waiting list for people who want to be volunteers, because they want to play the course. When Will was in Augusta he was paid for what he did, so he was unable to play the course.  Getting paid to escort Condoleezza Rice, Braves president Terry McGuirk, the CEO of Mizuno, Peyton Manning's wife, and NFL commish Roger Goodell ain't too shabby though.

How to be more likable: Be on time. Dress nicely and appropriately. Smile. Be confident. Have good posture. Keep your shoulders back and chin slightly elevated. Make eye contact. Don't walk too fast. Sit up tall in your seat. Keep your hands relaxed. Match body language. Listen intently and actively. Ask questions. Don't look around or fidget. Give genuine compliments. Create common ground.

According to a Journal of Occupational Health Psychology study, lack of sleep contributes to an increase in disrespectful and inconsiderate emails and text messags. Unfortunately no amount of coffee can help. All caps is a big no no. Sleep issues increase irritability and decision-making, resulting in passive-aggressive communication. Lack of sleep also limits your ability to recognize the insensitive nature of your email, hijacking your ability to process how other people may interpret your messages. Some people can be emotionally affected by these abusive communications. Avoid communicating when you are mad. Before you send your next email, consider how it may affect others. Do you really want to inflict hurt and pain?

Denison: responding with reason rather than emotion is essential. It becomes even more challenging when making a fast response is more important than making an informed response. Christians cannot afford to fall into the emotional trap. Doing so increases the chance we will say something that looks foolish or offensive (often because it is). Ask: why do I feel the need to share this thought with others? Many of the mistakes we make in conversations come about because we are trying to contribute to a conversation we don't fully understand, earn points with friends and those we admire, or vent our frustrations at a given topic. Knowing why you feel the need to speak is a big part of making sure you won't regret what you say. Think before you speak. Choose your words wisely. In John 8:1-11 Jesus says "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
