Schedules & Predictions: UGA GT Clemson

As my record indicates, I really have no idea how teams are going to perform. That hasn’t ever stopped me yet.

If Clemson doesn’t beat UGA in their opener, they may not make the playoff. The Tigers lost their top QB and RB to the NFL. Their replacements are only a tad less talented. The Dawgs will be tough, but the Tigers are favored. Get past week one and Clemson should win out. BC and Syracuse always play Clemson tough, and South Carolina will come loaded for bear. But Clemson could very well win the ACC with an undefeated record.

12.04 ACC Championship Game

Can Georgia make it to the SEC Championship Game undefeated? Lots of land mines on their schedule. Clemson. South Carolina. At Auburn. Florida. Will the Dawgs finally ditch the run-first mentality and embrace a wide open passing attack? I love me some JT Daniels, but is his accuracy on deep balls really that good? Will the receivers and O-Line step up? Will the defense gel?

If all these questions are answered positively, can then the Dawgs topple mighty Bama and advance to the playoff? Daniels could be gone after this year, so the Dawgs better make hay while the sun is shining.

My prediction: Dawgs lose to Clemson, then run the table, but lose to Bama.

12.04 SEC Championship Game

Word on the street: sophomore GT QB Jeff Sims is still a turnover machine. If he doesn’t get a handle on this, then Tech is in for a long season. The Jackets better win the first two games, because there ain’t many wins the rest of the way. And Northern Illinois is no patsy.

Tech is playing in Mercedes Benz Stadium to garner recruiting cache. You’d hope the Jackets show up well against UNC, a team the experts think will challenge for ACC superiority.

Mark my words: Tech may go into late November with a 2-8 record, but oblivious GT fans will still boldly and blithely predict wins at South Bend and against UGA. Some people never learn. UGA has won 16 of the past 19, including three straight wins of 38-7, 45-21, and 52-7. That’s an average margin of victory of 33 points. In Tech’s three wins, the Jackets outscored UGA by a total of ten points.

09.04 vs Northern Illinois 7:30

09.11 vs Kennesaw State noon

09.18 at Clemson 3:30

09.25 vs UNC at Mercedes Benz

10.02 vs Pitt

10.09 at Duke

10.30 vs Virginia Tech

11.06 at Miami

11.13 vs Boston College

11.20 at Notre Dame 2:30

11.27 vs Georgia

Also this weekend: Bama beats up on an over-hyped Miami squad. Clemson won't be able to run up a similar score on the Canes in the ACC Championship Game.
