Saturday Sports Roundup

Braves fans filled The Battery this afternoon, and lined up well over three hours before game time to get into Truist Park. Quite different from the scene in Los Angeles.
A writer at USA Today made a big deal about the Braves picking "anti-vaccer" Travis Tritt to sing the National Anthem, and social media went wild. Tritt is not an anti-vaccer. He may be against forcing people to take the vaccine. Big difference.
College football: #2 Cincinnati barely edged Navy.
Undefeated Wake Forest racked up 70 on Army. The Deacs should be ranked higher, as should Pitt.

Penn State looked weak against Illinois. Eight overtime's and the final score was only 20-18.

Heisman race is starting to take shape. Pitt's Kenny Pickett is my front runner. With his two best playmakers out, he took control and led the Panthers to a convincing win over Clemson. The Tigers need a QB. DJ Ukaleli hold the ball in the pocket too long. Threw two interceptions and got pulled.

Other Heisman leaders: Oklahoma QB Williams, UGA's nose tackle, and Stetson.

Oklahoma didn't look very good against Kansas.

Ole Miss retired Eli's number and painted MANNING in both end zones, then went out and beat LSU. Arch was is the building, after losing his nationally televised high school game Friday night to a highly ranked team from Florida. Arch did have a long TD run.

As expected, Bama rolled over Tennessee, though the Vols showed themselves as an improved team.

Why do football officials let the entire offense push the ballcarrier down the field like a rugby scrum, but when the defense does the same thing, the ball is spotted where forward process was made?

Tech starting out with a TD drive, with QB Jeff Sims looking good throwing the ball. I hate the navy pants. Sure Tech might've worn them back in the 30's and 40's, but I'd say that was before the modern era of football.

ESPN College Gameday celebrity guest picker Bill Walton appeared to be high on life. He based his picks on which team had the best all time basketball players.

I'm reading a book about the mafia in the US. Didn't realize that Sonny Liston took a dive up in Maine against Ali. He went down after an Ali punch didn't even land. Ali yelled at him to get up and fight, but Liston stayed down. Had you ever heard about this? This same book wouldn't confirm rumors that the mafia killed JFK, because they didn't have any proof.

M and C are cooking Mexican for dinner. Winnie snuck away with some of the meat.

Was going to talk about how John Roma eats more burgers than me. Burger and fries today. Chicken fingers, fries, and shake yesterday, with French toast for breakfast. BBQ sandwich and fries a few weeks ago. I'm not feeling as bad about what I eat.

On the way home from work yesterday I practiced chipping and putting. Golf this morning was okay.  Kinda chilly (48 degrees) but I wasn't too cold wearing shorts but long sleeves.

On her mental health podcast, Jeapordy hostess Dr. Mayim Bialik keeps a Sandy Koufax bobblehead on her desk.
