Good Clean Old Fashioned Blowout

Hard to be a Tech fan when UGA has a 33-10 record in the game since I was in school, and 17-3 since the turn of the century. And then the actual game starts.

GT can't field the opening kickoff. Then a three & out. On their first possession UGA dropped a pass on third down, and had to settle for a field goal. GT chose not to use tempo, instead eating up the play clock in an obvious effort to shorten the game.

Dawgs score on 3 straight possessions. GT drives to the 31 but loses yardage and has to punt. UGA punts for the first time with 1:45 remaining in the half.

Announcer: "Tech has to change all the negativity into positivity." The announcer couldn't understand why Tech wasn't making more of an effort to challenge Georgia. He had a good point.

GT stops GA on third down, but QB-turned CB Tobias Oliver commits pass interference. One play later Stetson throws his second TD pass to Brock Bowers. 31-0.

Yates hits a pass for 40 yards down to the 30, then 3rd & 10 and 4th & 15 and a scramble incompletion after almost failing to get the snap off before the play clock ran off. Complete disorganization. Lack of a plan. And I am supposed to support this crap? I don't see how people pay hundreds and thousands of dollars to follow this team. Not much better when Tech plays Duke or Northern Illinois.

Dawgs get the ball and toss it to Kenny McIntosh, who takes it 68 yards to the house. 38-0.

In Ann Arbor Michigan goes up 21-13 early in the third quarter. At the time I didn't expect that lead to hold.

Perhaps Tech needed to unleash Jeff Sims. But I think the GT coaches would rather play it safe and not give up any easy touchdowns. By the end of the game I am convinced Tech's coaches schemed for this very thing: to not take chances, run the clock while on offense, not turn the ball over or give up easy scores by the UGA defense or on special teams, lest the score really turned out lopsided. What a loser strategy. As a Tech grad this is quite painful to endure.

As it was the UGA offense had the same strategy: take what the defense gave them - wide open passes and run the ball the rest of the time. The plan worked for both teams.

Tech drives to the Georgia 40 then allows two sacks, turning the ball over on downs again.

In the 4th quarter JT came in with the rest of the second team and promptly drove down the field, scoring without throwing a pass. 45-0. Like the Tech coaches, the UGA coaches don't want to go out of their way to run up the score. Just simple ground and pound football.

Not sure I've ever seen so many Georgia fans at Grant Field. Another travesty.

If Tech had a decent kicker, they might could've avoided a shutout. As it was the Jackets have been outscored 100-0 in the last two meetings.

As usual Tech made a big deal about what color costume they would wear. As usual it had zero bearing on the outcome. Meanwhile you could count on what Georgia and Bama and Auburn and Clemson would wear.

Last night the UNC/NCState game was almost unwatchable. If QB Sam Howell can rally the team back late, why can't he play well in the first half? When the Heels got close, I heard they botched an onside kick. No regrets watching a Hallmark Channel movie instead.

Ceil's 80-year old aunt said the Florida/FSU game was a good one. Sorry Corrine (and Eric), but it wasn't. The botched onside kick in this game was even worse. And Vols/Vandy game wasn't even better. Just one more QB who can't spot a secondary receiver. Some expert on social media thought the Falcons should go after the talented yet inexperienced Florida QB (Richardson?), who has barely played. Those guys need to watch Washington QB Taylor Heinicke.

So Jim Harbaugh finally beat the Buckeyes. Guess the Wolverines will have to permanently ditch the maize britches. Hopefully Ohio State's second loss won't open the door for a two loss Bama team to sneak in the playoff.

Everything bounced Auburn's way in the first half. Bama looked disoriented. Better for UGA for Bama to be feeling good about themselves headed into the SEC Championship? A bad game could cost Heisman front runner Bryce Young the trophy, like it did OSU QB CJ Stroud earlier in the day.

On the crucial 4th down the play developed too slowly, not hard-hitting enough, and was stuffed in the backfield. Goodness gracious good thing Bama won, as an Iron Bowl victory and we never would've heard the end of it from the already obnoxious Auburn fans. Instead we got to see them go down in defeat.

Same old imperfect football from QB DJ Ukelele, but the Gamecocks weren't up to the challenge, falling behind 17-0. Even on an off year, Clemson is still far ahead of Carolina.
