Jan 20 Stetson Update

Speaking of Stetson, his hometown his having a parade in his honor this month. He  knows it won’t get any better for him football wise. He realizes he has the rest of his life to be a grownup. UGA fans are getting to be like many Alabama fans – spoiled. So many hate the fact that Stetson is returning, badmouthing him even after they were proved wrong for saying Stetson could never beat Bama.

Hard to believe players would transfer after winning the national championship. WR Jermaine Burton wants to catch more than 2-3 balls per game. Had he stayed he still would’ve been drafted into the NFL just as high – maybe higher.

Dock Hollingsworth’s dad used to say: “When we got married we made an agreement – I’d make all the major decisions and my wife would make the minor ones. In 40 years of marriage we have yet to be faced with a major decision.”

Did prices at Waffle House go up? I heard someone saying an all-star breakfast was like $13. Not sure if they were kidding.

Yesterday was a long, rough day, then I arrived home to discover the puppy had chewed up one of my better Braves caps. It’s just a thing, but still. Was hard to calm down and sleep. Doubted I would sleep well, so I stayed up to midnight catching up on stuff. Then I had a decent night’s sleep. Usually I wake up before my alarm but not today.

Didn’t eat much yesterday on the road. Lost a little weight. Could be the stress. All I ate was one of the dollar milkshakes from CookOut – oreo. Today I’m treating myself to a free burger at Cheeseburger Bobby’s. Fries were all short, but still hot. Harder to eat short fries. Gues that should’ve been a message right there. Only the second order of fries I’ve eaten all month.

Work is busy. Still catching up from being out yesterday. Got a million things going on.

AL OLIVER  [SABR Bio] a one-time San Francisco Giant. Oliver had uniforms with “0” when he played for FG, LAD, TOR, PHI, MON & TEX. He played for SFG in 1984. In the 20th century, he was the oldest player to win his first batting title. First and only title was in 1982 when he hit .331 for MON. That distinction has since been claimed by other players. Twice he was on teams where he and eight other teammates had one hundred hits in the same season: 1972 PIT & 1976 PIT

Old fogey comment: every time I see Will he's wearing a different pair of sneakers. Boy am I jealous.

I am making an effort to wearing a different pair of shoes, wearing each pair at least once a month. Today I wore my black Nike spikeless golf shoes to work.
