The football games both college and pro seemed to celebrate Veterans Day all weekend. Plus King Charles participated in an Amistice Day event in England.
Mighty Kentucky lost to Vanderbilt.
Mighty Texas A&M lost to Auburn.
Worked past 6 pm last Thursday. Got caught up on everything except my main job duties. Need to hit those hard this week.
Lifted weights at the gym Friday morning after sleeping 30 minutes late. Did extra since I didn’t have to drive to work. Stopped by Kroger on the way home for Gatorade, as M wasn’t feeling well.
Parking: not my fave. Same with Westside Provisions on Howell Mill. Usually jam packed. When we went on Friday at 3:30 pm there were parking spaces. Ceil was gone for an hour so I caught up on emails and took a nap. Then it was 4:30 Friday rush hour. C wanted to go to Ponce City Market, but after last week’s fiasco I was having no part of it. We went home. Rush hour not too bad.
After AM golf on Saturday Ceil and I decluttered in the living and dining room. Looks much better. The GT game wasn’t on my TV for the second straight week. Watched Clemson / Louisville. Then we bundled up to watch UGA / MissState outside at my other friend Reid’s house. He had a firepit going but the wind was blowing hard, so we went inside. Noelle had cooked soup, Nancy tossed a salad, and Ceil cooked cornbread.
JFBC was packed out for their big youth weekend. Short sermon and lots of music. Picked up Chipotle for lunch, which was enough for supper as well. Later I did more cleaning.
Finally got batteries for my scale. I have lost 30 pounds. Still need to knock off 20 more. Ran 2 miles at the gym this morning. Need to get to the gym earlier so I can work out longer.

ERNIE BANKS [SABR Bio] record for most grand slams in a season was broken by Don Mattingly with only four games left in the season. On 29-Sep-1987, Mattingly took Bruce Hurst deep for his 6th GS that year*, moving ahead of Banks’s five hit in 1955. In 1961, BAL’s Jim Gentile tied Bank’s mark. Cleveland’s Travis Hafner tied Mattingly’s record in 2006. In no other season of his 14-year major league career did Mattingly hit even one grand slam. Gentile hit 2 of his slams in the same game! 09-May-1961. Banks attended Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, now the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. The building was built in 1922 as the first African American high school in Dallas. In 1955 additional space was added. Banks did play baseball (semi-pro) during his HS years but just not for his school, which didn’t have a team. During that time, he also played fast-pitch softball for a church team where he was discovered. On 09-May-1963, playing 1st-base, Banks recorded a record 22 putouts behind the one-run complete game pitching of future All-Star Dick Ellsworth. Banks was tied 20 years later by another Cub, Bill Buckner.
