Just finished the New York Times bestseller The Harbinger: the Ancient Mystery that Holds the Secret of America’s Future, linking the prophesy in Isaiah 9:10 (and surrounding verses) to the September 11 attacks – a warning to the American people to return to God. A good read, presented as a narrative / story.
Isaiah 9:10: The bricks have fallen, but we will build with dressed stones; the sycamores have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.
One of the few surrounding structures not destroyed by the falling towers was a small stone church building where George Washington had taken the oath of office to become the first president. After being sworn in, Washington and others went inside the church to pray, asking God to bless the new nation. In Washington’s inaugural address, he told how a nation cannot stand without relying on God (Denison has quoted this several times).
The church was saved when falling debris landed instead on a sycamore tree, which was replaced by a cedar just as the World Trade Center was replaced by a taller, sturdier skyscraper – events also linked back to the prophesy. After the Israelies were devastated by enemies, instead of recommitting to God they instead built back stronger with mined rock and sturdier trees. After 9/11 the US did the same thing.
When the US stock markets reopened the Monday after 9/11 they suffered the largest single drop in US history. Exactly seven years later in September 2008 the markets suffered an even larger crash. These events relate to an ancient Israeli calendar event where debts are erased. That day the market dropped 777 points, a loss of $700 billion – a second warning to return faith and reliance to God as opposed to creating man-made security.
Can our nation save itself from destruction? The answer is still found in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will heal their land.”
Great that Hamlin has improved. Many were worried with the lack of progress reports. Hamlin’s heart attack came after he tackled Bengal WR Tee Higgins. I read where Higgins has been at the hospital with Hamlin ever since Monday night. While watching the game, before the injury Ceil had taken notice of Higgins, who had played at Clemson.
Left for Macon around 10:45 am yesterday. Rain and traffic. Left to come back around 5 pm. C had a rough day and wanted takeout pizza. I picked it up and arrived home at 7:15. M are with us. I didn’t feel like doing anything after that.
Ran 3 miles this morning, each slightly faster than the previous one. Still kind of hesitant after the whole Hamlin thing.
Got an ad for a “smart scale” that “automatically sends weight readings to an app on your phone...easily track your progress!” Hey, remember when scales weren’t so smart? No batteries. You had to stand on the scale and actually look down to read how much you weighed. Tracking progress? How fast are these people losing weight? Maybe I need to get one of these things.
