Last Friday Braves rightfielder Ronald Acuna broke out red socks to match his jersey – perhaps a Braves first. He made a nice catch.
In most games Acuna is wearing his pants like Padres shortstop Tatis.
The Padres Juan Soto most fears Acuna’s speed.
Kevin Pillar got the start in left on Monday night. He’s supposed to have a good glove but hasn’t played much so far. They’re really be rotating the outfielders especially since CF Harris got hurt. Several outfielders that are playing I’ve scarcely heard of, like last night’s CF Eli White. Saturday RF Acuna let a catchable ball drop. Maybe he’s not making as many diving attempts in an attempt to stay healthy, though he did make that great leaping catch at the wall on Friday night. Looked like Michael Jordan. Acuna has had several multi-hit games so far this season.
I love a good walkoff as much of the next guy, but cringe whenever the hero leaps onto home plate - so many injuries have happened that way.
If it was Ozzie Albies talking, he was probably getting onto the outfielders for not hustling. Was surprised he didn’t get on Acuna on Saturday night. Maybe that ball on Saturday night wasn’t really catchable.
Hard to tell what the Braves’ new rookie pitcher’s last name is. DODO? DODD?
My most recent obsession is nice gym shorts. With the addition of the royal City Connect shorts, I have quite the collection. Need to get me some Grizzlies shorts.

JOE MEDWICK [SABR Bio] accumulated exactly 3,000 total bases at the end of his first ten big league seasons. Medwick menaced NL pitchers with a slash line of .332/.370/.542 between 1932-1941. He played 66 games for the Boston Braves in 1945. He also batted .300 or better in each of his first eleven seasons, from 1932-1942, qualifying for the batting crown the last ten seasons. He was the first batter with four hits in a single All-Star Game. In the 1937 All-Star Game in Washington’s Griffith Stadium, Medwick doubled off Tommy Bridges in the 4th; singled off him in the 6th; doubled off Mel Harder in the 7th, and singled off Harder in the 9th.
Sunday: we almost ate at OK Café but chose Little Rey instead. I was scared there would be a long wait at OK Café. I saw where Dock’s niece worked at the Masters this year. Saw where Nancy Harris Driggers and her husband were at Peachtree Pres (I think). Didn’t know they had left SPdL, or maybe I forgot.
Monday: Only leader John showed up for small group, but we had a nice chat. Home to watch Jeopardy and the Netflix show about the PGA Tour. You should check that one out.
Tuesday: super busy at work. Left at 11:20 for Macon. On the phone working on hot orders. At noon I got on a conference call for an hour. Then more work calls. Then court for 30 minutes. Then back to work calls and emails. Drove home through traffic. Took almost 3 hours. I was worn out from the day. I did watch Hawks / Heat until C came home. This morning it seemed like all they could show on SportsCenter was the Lakers. Ran three miles this morning.
