Tonight is Washington pastor David Platt’s “Secret Church, where he preaches for almost 7 hours, from 7 pm well past midnight. Tonight’s topic: Jonah, Iran, and the persecuted church. Our Sunday School class will watch together. In attendance: Joe & Jennifer, John & Laurel, Reid & Noelle, Dan & Virginia, Dan Arnold, Bryan, Rob & his wife, Tabitha, and me & Ceil.
We get thick notebooks to take notes (fill in blanks). Platt preaches pretty fast, so you gotta pay attention to keep up. From the website…

Left work yesterday at 5:45. Needed air in my tire. The Peachtree Corners QT has air, but it doesn’t work good. Headed to west Roswell (near Claire’s), which meant heavy traffic on Holcomb Bridge. On the way I realized different routes would’ve taken me to other QuickTrips with less traffic. Too late. Got my air and headed straight through downtown Roswell, not knowing the road was blocked for a festival. More traffic. Turned away from home and made a big square to avoid the crowd. Was well after 7 pm when I got home.
C was busy with stuff and not motivated to cook supper. Too late to go out. Finally she made omelets, bacon, and grits. After Jeopardy I forgot what we watched. Reruns of Young Sheldon and So Help Me Todd.
Up early to run at the gym this morning. Tomorrow I will probably get up and play golf at sunrise. After that I need to drive straight to the office to work on my files. Will need a nap after all that.
MAX SCHERZER [B-R Bio] owns the best franchise win-loss percentage for a season in the 123 year history of the Detroit Tigers. In 2013 Scherzer’s record was 21-3 a .875 percentage, best in the AL since Randy Johnson’s .900 in 1995 for Seattle. Scherzer pitched for the University of Missouri Tigers. He also owns three of the top 18 seasons for most strikeouts per nine innings pitched. His top rate of 12.690 Ks per 9 innings pitched is good for seventh all-time. Max joined a very select club of pitchers who won a Cy Young Award in each league, with Gaylord Perry, Roger Clemens, Roy Halladay, Pedro Martinez, and Randy Johnson.
DENISON: people assign evil intent to those they disagree with when it is often incorrect to do so. Christians cannot afford to make this mistake. It's all right to think that someone is wrong, especially when their position goes against a clear teaching in Scripture. It's not all right to conclude they are a bad person simply because they believe differently on an issue. Our calling is to help others know Jesus and our need for his saving grace. People are more receptive when the message doesn't come with disdain and unfair accusations.
At work I was caught rifling through Angie's desk. Note all of her little toys lining her desk, many discards from me.
