Falcons: since the last two number one draft picks wear RB Dijon Robinson’s favorite numbers (5 and 8), the former Texas star (1) had the Falcons get Mike Vick’s blessing to wear number 7, and (2) “traded” with kicker Younghoe Koo for the number. No mention of what Koo received. Koo will now wear number 6. The whole Koo part seems to be much less than 50% of the story. Prediction: Koo won’t be quite as good a kicker wearing six. Maybe Robinson will be so great the Falcons will retire number seven for him.
I know Robinson’s name is Bijan, but as an old guy I reserve the right to call him Dijan. That’s the Otto in me.
You heard it here “first” – eventually all NFL games will be pay per view, including the Super Bowl. Will they then be ad free? Probably not. Shoot, these days most TV is pay TV. Cable or streaming. Few have antennas. I pay for TV and don’t get the Braves, and I haven’t died yet. I’ll miss the NFL less. But college football…
The top player in next year’s recruiting class has committed to UGA. But he’s already changed his mind before. Compares himself to Patrick Mahomes (rolls eyes). More like Dwayne The Rock Johnson in “The Game Plan”.
Already referring to himself in the third person. Wouldn’t you know it – he wears jersey number one. Probably considers himself humble. Sounds like the type guy who will transfer two or three times if he doesn’t get immediate playing time. Some players don’t mind sitting at UGA because they’re learning, practicing every day against the best. Not sure about this guy. Dawgs already have three good QB’s they can win with. I know, you can never have too many. Never know which one will transfer or get hurt, or flop.

In Sunday School our teacher recommended we read biographies of great Christians, and listed several. Brian even brought his Martin Luther bobblehead Some he mentioned: The White Rose, Churchill, Sophie Scholl, Cricket player JT, Jim Elliott, Band of Brothers, To The Golden Shore, 21 Servants of the Faith(?), John Newton, Martin Luther (the pope wanted him dead), William Tindale (he was burned for translating the Bible), The Master Plan of Evangelism, Training the Twelve, and Spielberg’s Lincoln.

RUBE WALKER [SABR Bio] called for the pitch Ralph Branca threw to Bobby Thomson for the “shot heard 'round the world” on 03-Oct-1951. Walker was behind the plate, subbing for the injured Roy Campanella, for the home run that eliminated Brooklyn in the third game of a best-of 3 playoff with the crosstown Giants. Walker caught all nine innings. One of Walker’s coaches said of him, “That guy isn’t as slow on the bases as he looks. He’s slower!” It was widely believed that he was the slowest runner in the majors. Being named Walker was an unfortunate coincidence. On 24-Sep-1968 Mets skipper Gil Hodges suffered his first heart attack. Walker stepped up to manage the final four games of that season. Hodges died from his second heart attack at age 47, just four years later. World Series MVP Johnny Podres said of Walker: “I love to pitch to him. When it comes to setting up the hitter, there were no better catchers.”
