Norm McDonald and the British Open Champ

Five years ago Norm McDonald predicted greatness for newly crowned British Open champion Brian Harman. Back then McDonald's stream of consciousness live tweeting during golf tournaments was a must follow. Harman is from Savannah, went to UGA, and lives on Sea Island.

This week Harman is in high demand. On with Dan Patrick on Tuesday morning.

Saturday: early AM golf. Swung by Bellwood Coffee to take stuff to Matthew. It was 8:30 but the place wasn't as packed as I'd seen it on other mornings. Joel wasn't happy - Friday night's storm had knocked out their espresso machine.

Stopped by two thrift stores. Bought a pair of navy pants and a navy New Era Braves quarter zip. Since I've lost weight I still don't have many clothes to wear that fit. Hopefully I will continue to shrink. Passed on a pair of grey Pumas. Took Winnie for a walk. Fixed lunch. Took a nap. Fed the cat. Watched some of the British Open. Washed and folded some clothes.

Went out to get my emissions tested. Took several hours. Drove west to the East Cobb Mr Clean but they weren't testing. Doubled back east to the other side of Roswell. Traffic was jammed on Holcomb Bridge. Should've cut down by the river. Then it took forever. When they finally finished I went over and vacuumed out the car. All that took up the entire afternoon. Over 12000 steps for the day.

Watched the entire Braves game Saturday night. The announcers wondered if Acuna would swing 3-0. Albies battled hard. Not sure how many pitches he fouled off. I thought it might've been fun if that speedy Braves rookie (Wall?) had tried to steal home during the Albies at bat.  Brewers were getting all the breaks. That rookie for the Brewers had a big game.

Couldn't sleep Saturday night. Had two Diet Mtn Dews, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. So I got up early Sunday morning and played golf again. No Robert or Paul or GT so I played alone. A much better sunrise.

1. Drive felt good. Decent approach that found the bunker. Tough lie. Hit several shots out. Two putt. "Bogey".

2. Six iron off tee was left and short. Two poor chips but third try found the green. Two putt for "bogey".

3. Eight iron short and left. Poor chip then a better chip. Great lag putt. "Bogey".

4. Seven iron faded left. Mulligan was a worm burner. Two chips rolled past hole. Two putt. "Bogey".

5. Hit a good 6 iron, but short of the green. Hit three chips: too long, too short, then one slightly better. Two putt. "Bogey".

6. Hit a great drive. Straight and past the big oak, in the fairway. Decent fairway shot that didn't go as far as I'd hoped. Great 9 iron, high and just past the hole to the back fringe. Two putt for "bogey".

7. Decent drive that sliced right, under a tree. For fun I poked out onto the fairway with a 3 iron, but it didn't roll that far. Hit a good 6 iron. Good chip to fringe. Three putt. "Triple".

8. Pretty good drive, though it sliced into the rough. Wedge drifted right. Hit three decent chips. Three decent lag putts. "Bogey".

9. Three wood was pushed right. Mulligan was low and didn't roll far up hill. Pretty good chip to the fringe. Poor putt. Better putt closer. "Bogey".

Finished at 7:47 and drove home. Walked Winnie. Fixed breakfast. Met Lee & Nancy before church to help him with a panhandling project.

Before church I had the British Open on the TV. The leaders had just teed off. Went I left I paused the action, and started it back up when I got home. Sunday School. Lunch quesadillas. British Open.

Took that nap and just puttered around, catching up on my rest. Cleaned up before C got home. C had spent the long weekend in Pawley's Island and North Myrtle Beach. Got a nail in her tire, which made for a long day yesterday. Long drive back. Was after 7 pm when she got home.

Ozzie Albies' big 3-run homer in the 8th put the Braves ahead to stay yesterday, giving Atlanta the series win. After two games in Boston the Braves celebrate Hank Aaron Weekend at Truist Park against the Brewers. Haven't heard if there will be special uniforms or anything.

Went to bed "early" (after 9:30). Lifted weights at the gym this AM. Men's Bible Study tonight, led by Tommy.

A&C went to a wedding Friday night, and saw my friends Reid and Noelle.

Players with three plate appearances in one inning. There are 17 others.
