Thursday: worked past 615. After 5 pm seems like I just work to finish up all the things I’ve started but haven’t finished. Ceil cooked chicken, kale, tossed salad, and baked French fries.
Winnie was still pretty listless yesterday. C fixed her turkey, pumpkin, and rice. I went to bed early, and Winnie tagged along and snuggled up with me. This morning she seemed to be better.
I’m feeling better, but still weak with the lingering cough. Not sure if golf is a good idea. We’ll see.
Today Brad is working from home. Eric took off for his anniversary. Angie is leaving at noon. Leaves just me and Vanessa here this afternoon. Again.
DAL MAXVILL [SABR Bio] holds the dubious record of the most hitless at bats in a single World Series. In the 1968 WS, Maxvill went 0 for 22 with 3 walks. There are, however, contenders for his crown. He was born in, attended high school and college in, and played his first ten plus major league seasons (home games) in the city where he was born, St. Louis. Maxvill was on teams that won World Series 5 times, winning four. Won with STL in 1964 & 1967; won with Oakland in 1972 & 1974 (he did not play in the ’72 Series). He was part of the 1968 STL team that lost to Detroit, but Maxvill placed tied for 20th in league MVP voting. He was tremendous on defense, but a well below MLB average hitter. His best season shows a 91 OPS+ in, ironically enough, the Year of the Pitcher—1968. He was on the 1968 NL Gold Glove team that included multiple winners Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Johnny Bench, Wes Parker, Ron Santo, and teammates Bob Gibson and Curt Flood.
