Wednesday morning when I climbed on the treadmill at the gym, I turned on ESPN as usual. Instead of a SportsCenter rerun, the Dodgers and Padres were playing in Korea – the first game of the 2024 regular season. Hu Darvish pitching, Ohtani hitting. Ohtani's wife cheering. This was before the gambling scandal broke. Is Ohtani following in the footsteps of Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe?
Worked until 6 pm. Stomach wasn’t feeling good. C cooked beef tips and rice, with kale. Later she baked muffins. Watched Jeopardy, two episodes of Andy Griffith, and The Voice. Ceil was using some of her colored pencils and charcoals on a project.
DAVE WINFIELD [SABR Bio] holds the record for the most doubles hit in All-Star games. Winfield hit seven. He was the first outfielder to win multiple Gold Glove awards in each league. His first two were won with San Diego in the NL. His next five were as a member of the Yankees. Mookie Betts (BOS 2016-2018) & (LAD 2020, 2022) has now matched Winfield’s feat. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Winfield was drafted by the NFL, AFL & the NBA as well as MLB.
