Jackets Upset Noles

A good win by the Jackets over FSU. Nice that Tech finally found a kicker.

I trust that Head Coach Brent Key will not allow the team to let their guard down this coming Saturday against Georgia State. 

Without knowing much about their opponents, here’s how I see the season playing out for Tech. As always, I’m okay with Tech losing to stronger opponents as long as they beat the weaker foes. Tech has the toughest schedule in the ACC, the 9th toughest schedule in the nation.  

That said, with the exception of Georgia, every game on Tech’s schedule is winnable. Beating the Irish will be a stretch, but it could happen. Plus, road games are tough. They’ve beaten the Cardinals in Louisville before. After last year’s upset, Miami will be looking for payback. The games against Louisville, UNC, Virginia Tech, and Miami will make or break Tech’s season.

While I predicted the Jackets would go 6-6, they could just as easily win their first 11 games and roll into Athens on Nov 30 undefeated. Wouldn’t that be something? Perhaps Tech should continue wearing the Irish-themed helmet stripe.

Did FSU just have a bad game? When I saw that vagabond QB DJU had transferred from Clemson to Oregon State and now FSU, I knew the Jackets had a chance. DJ’s longest completion was only 21 yards. And he was consistently off target on deep throws. FSU had him throw short pass after short pass. Like at his previous two stops, it’s doubtful the Noles can mount a playoff run with DJ under center. They could struggle to win half their games. FSU could falter against UNC, SMU, Cal, and even Memphis.

In his first season, 2001, Ichiro had streaks of…15-games (April 04-20), 23-games April 22—May 18; and 21 games August 03-24. Ichiro was the first rookie to lead the majors in All-Star voting, amassing 3,373,035 votes in 2001. He played at least 100 games for 24 consecutive seasons. He played 7 straight years of 103+ games for the Orix of the Japan Pacific League, then 130+ games for 17 seasons in a row in the AL & NL.

DENISON: the 2006 cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah has not prevented ongoing conflict. Time after time, Israel has negotiated peace agreements with Hamas, only to see the terrorists break them and renew their attacks on the Jewish state. A friend in Israel told me after the October 7 atrocities, “We thought we were negotiating peace with Hamas. Now we know we were only giving them time to prepare for war.” Americans may think we are immune, but we’re not. Oceans cannot shelter us from cyberterrorism that could dismantle our energy, water, and financial infrastructures. Bioweapons and dirty bombs could be used by terrorists who are already inside our borders. Attacks such as the ISIS stabbing spree that killed three people in Germany and the synagogue blast in France can happen here. Not to mention the threats posed by artificial intelligence. What fears of the future are you facing today? What should you do with them?
