The One That Got Away

Went back to buy a pair of Johnson & Murphy golf shoes that I’d seen yesterday, but they were already sold. Wasn’t super crazy about them, but it may be time to replace the adidas I wear. Playing in the morning dew and tromping through the high rough takes a toll on golf shoes. I do have several pair.

1. Black adidas – I wear to play. Decent shape.

2. White Puma – nice but clunky. Might wear in the Textron tourney.

3. Black Nikes – super nice. I hate to get dirty. Rarely worn.

4. White FootJoy. Old. I need to throw away.

I’ve also got the all white shoes starting to pile up.

1. Hoka Clifton 9 to wear to the gym

2. Nike Court Vision Low: okay but how much will I wear

3. Adidas Stan Smith new – sometimes worn to church

4. Adidas Stan Smith old – I have up for sale

5. Puma Astro Kick – I need to sell

6. Nike Free Commuter – wear around the house

7. Puma golf shoes.

Wednesday: left work at 510 and thought I was headed downtown. Called Ceil as usual. She hadn’t picked up Winnie from our house, so I had to reroute to East Cobb and get him. Stopped by Wendys for a chicken sandwich and junior bacon cheeseburger. At home I walked Winnie and threw on some shorts. Then on the drive downtown I realized I’d forgotten my belt.

The girls were finishing supper when I arrived. Got them to bed and collapsed on the couch. All this extra interstate driving is wearing me out. Slept on the couch, then went to bed at 10 pm.

Thursday: left downtown just after 6 am this morning. Got a call while I was merging from I-20 to the downtown connector, and have been working emergencies ever since.

Left work before 430 Thursday. C was going to be late getting home after picking up W&MC at the international terminal. Stopped by two thrift stores. Passed on a cat shirt but bought a cool Major League shirt that turned out to be too small for me. Maybe Will can wear it.

Made two quesadillas for supper. Watched a good chunk of the Braves game, since it was on Fox. Many don’t like Smoltz as an announcer, but I don’t mind him. Like him better than Joe Buck, Joe Morgan, Tim McCarver, and several other blowhards.

Friday: made it back to the gym. Busy morning at work. Headed back to Wendys for lunch: free fry Friday.

GT vs FSU at noon tomorrow. Jackets are ten point underdogs. Two top players are out for the year with injuries, a TE and DE. As expected, the Jackets will wear white head to toe. 60% chance of rain.

AARON JUDGE  [B-R Bio] was the 16th team captain of the Yankees, earning the honor in December 2022. The position had been empty since Derek Jeter’s retirement in 2014. In 2017 Judge was AL ROY, but struck out 208 times, to lead the majors. Judge stuck out more in his first 3 full seasons than Joe DiMaggio did in his career: 441 to 369. Judge recently broke Ralph Kiner’s record for fewest games to hit 300 home runs, an impressive 955 (in his 3,431st at-bat), beating Kiner by 132 games.

TONY OLIVA  [SABR Bio] is the only American League player to win batting titles in each of his first two full seasons, hitting .323 in 1964 and .321 in 1965. He led again in 1971 with a .337 mark. He collected 8 hits in a row, in one day. In a twin-bill he had 3 hits in 29-Jun-1969(1) and 5 hits in the nightcap 29-Jun-169(2). He was the last batter to face Lew Burdette, on 16-Jul-1967 by grounding into a double play in his team’s last at-bat that day.
