Falcons Don't Falcon

Good win for the Falcons. They need to play like that against the weaker teams. I would’ve liked it better if the Falcons had beaten the Panthers instead of getting beat 30-0 and lost to the Bills. Win or lose, it’s nice the Falcons are so improved.

Birds were up 21-14 in the 4th quarter, but left at least ten points on field. On the last play of the first half Drake London was pushed out of bounds one yard short of the end zone. Then the Falcons had a 37 yard field goal blocked.

RB Bijan Robinson is having a breakout season. He’s been breaking tackles all night and had an 81 yard TD run, but inexplicably wasn’t on the field for a key 3rd & 2 play with 8 minutes remaining in the game. Then again on a 3rd & 1 after the 2 minute warning, with QB Phenix holding his arm in pain. Birds run Allgiers up the middle three times instead, draining the Bills timeouts, and kick a field goal to make it a 2 score game.

I keep waiting for Bills QB Josh Allen to generate a comeback, but the Falcons defense keeps making play after play. Not sure how long I can hold my breath.

Interesting to note that for some reason the Falcons delightful throwback jerseys feature numbers with red trim, which is historically accurate, but also the names also have red trim - which they didn’t have back in the day. Looks good, though. Last time the Falcons wore the red helmets against the Bills was like 1973, when OJ Simpson was playing. But those red helmets were without the gold stripes.

Bills jerseys have stripes that actually look good on the modern cut sleeves. Pretty sure that back in the day the Bills wore striped socks as well.

QB Allen did drive the Bills down the field, but a tipped pass settled into the arms of a Falcon defender. Ball game.
