Death of a Salesman

Here’s the link to a website Brad set up with information about tomorrow’s memorial service. At this time I’m not sure if the service will be streamed at 3 pm EST, or if it can be viewed at a later time. Please feel free to share this link with whoever may be interested.

Wednesday: a good lunch at La Parrilla with Brian. A great time of sharing, conversation, and prayer. He ordered a “bowl.”  I got a beef burrito, cheese enchilada, and rice. A huge plate. I didn’t finish. Very good. Brian had spied the shop next door, which featured Dole Whip, a frozen fruit treat visitors to Disney World rave about. I got a strawberry pineapple swirl. Pretty good.

Ceil ate supper at Little Rey with Matthew. I left work shortly after five and headed north to Hot Stove in Cumming. Stopped at RaceTrac for a drink and next door to Wendy’s for a chicken sandwich and nuggets. Had eight in attendance at Hot Stove. I’ll type up the notes at some point. A short meeting, just chewing the fat. Got home earlier than usual, shortly after nine.

Headed down to Macon tomorrow morning for my dad’s memorial service. Got a couple of errands to run while I am Macon. Gotta return a nebulizer downtown.

JIM THORPE  [SABR Bio] was a one-time Boston Braves outfielder, who was chosen over Babe Ruth as the greatest athlete of the first half of the 20th century by the Associated Press in 1953.  Swedish king Gustav V told Thorpe, “You, sir, are the greatest athlete in the world,” at the 1912 Olympics. Thorpe’s reply? “Thanks, king.”  Thorpe received 252 of 393 first-place votes, with Babe Ruth second at 86, Jack Dempsey third at 19 and Ty Cobb fourth at 11. Thorpe’s rookie contract was for more  money than any previous rookie had received. He received a contract from the New York Giants for $6,000 per year. Thorpe once drove in the only run in a game where both pitchers had no-hitters through nine innings. A famous pitching duel took place on 02-May-1917 at Weeghman Park in Chicago between the Cubs’ Hippo Vaughn and Reds’ Fred Toney. The visitors prevailed when Thorpe singled home teammate Larry Kopf in the top of the 10th inning.

Denison: Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die” (John 11:25–26). When a Christian dies, they don’t. When they take their last breath here, they take their first breath in heaven. They close their eyes in this fallen world and open them in God’s perfect paradise. They are well and they are home. This is because, “If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s” (Romans 14:8).

I am far from expert on the comings and goings of Beth Moore. Some love her. Others consider her a heretic, including the lady who writes The End Time column, who often addresses women in the church matters. I dunno. Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s? I know plenty of others who aren’t happy with the SBC, so Beth Moore is not alone.

Not sure how, but it had seemed like the old blog had gotten off to a good start these first couple of months of 2021. Perhaps why all those hackers overseas have taken notice. But these last few weeks the quality may have suffered, Hang with me if you will, but it could be a rocky ride.
