Yardwork

Tuesday: Ceil was at her women's ministry, I worked until seven last night. Got a decent amount done. Drove home in a daze. Leftover potato salad for supper. It was good. Went to bed at 9:30.

Watched Katie Couric host Jeopardy. Why did she stand across the stage when chatting with the contestants? To safe distance? Alec used to stand right next to them.

Sometimes I feel like I have a weight over my head. I don't want to complain. Most people have similar strife in their life, dealing with similar issues. But I can't just hold it in forever. It's not healthy. There's got to be someone to share with. Some can't handle it. Others can't keep a secret. I don't want to share with everyone. I don't get to share much with Sunday School teacher Brian, but we're eating lunch today so I'm thinking about what I will share with him.

Lately after I eat my stomach doesn't feel good.

Good news/bad news: recently my blog has starting getting lots more hits. Instead of ten, a post is getting 60 or more. Not sure where they're coming from. Somewhere outside the United States. Not sure how – not a regular browser or from Google, but from "other" sources. Have I been hacked? Guess I need to report the suspicious activity.

Every day SABR emails out a trivia question, which sometimes I share. Whoever is first to answer gets credit. Yesterday that was me. The question: Who claimed that Babe Ruth had replaced him when he returned to the team following an injury?

Hint: #1   Had an interesting relationship with Charlie Dressen.

Hint: #2   He hit a triple against a future Hall of Fame pitcher in spring training of his rookie season, but he never hit one in the regular season in his major league career.

Answer: GEORGE HALAS  [SABR Bio] - Ruth didn't join the Yankees until the year after Halas had his hip repaired, so his claim is more than a stretch.

#1    Dressen was a quarterback for George Halas' Decatur Staleys, the forerunners of the Chicago Bears, in 1920.

#2    Halas tripled off Rube Marquard, but hurt his hip sliding into third. Halas only played twelve games in the majors, collecting only two hits

I head read about Halas in the Sammy Baugh autobiography.
