Monday: worked from before 8 am until after 5:30. Stopped by Wendy’s on the way to small group. A good discussion on what Jesus taught during the Last Supper.

Big group from our customer came in today for a tour. We had a Chickfila box lunch.

Mary-Clayton has accepted a new job, in marketing for the 4-H Club national office in Washington DC. She will be working from home. Her best friend growing up works in the same office, also remote.

At the end of the month Anna is moving into an apartment just up Piedmont from Ansley Mall, with an old college roommate. She’ll be able to walk to work. A married couple she knows lives in the flat across the hall, and her friend Caroline Hargreaves (Andrew’s cousin) lives nearby.

ERNIE BANKS  [SABR Bio] was the 500 Home Run Club member who drew the fewest career bases on balls. “Mr. Cub” took a free pass only 763 times over his 19-year MLB career.  Not surprisingly, his lifetime .330 OBP and .830 OPS are also the lowest among this elite 27-member club. Elstone Howard was his last roommate before he played for the Cubs. Banks and Howard were roomies in Kansas City. Ernie said about the only thing wrong with doubleheaders was, “You don't get to play three games.” Banks was famous for his love of playing the game. His Hall of Fame acceptance speech began with these words:  “We got the setting, sunshine, fresh air the team behind us, let’s play two!” Banks clubbed over a fourth of his career 512 HRs (131, 25.6%) during doubleheaders.

Activist Candace Owens: No more Dr. Seuss, Mr. Potato Head, Aunt Jemima, or Uncle Ben, but America celebrates a nationally televised simulated lesbian sex scene during the Grammy Awards on CBS.

Denison: Pope Francis and the Vatican have declared that the Catholic Church cannot bless same-sex unions because God “cannot bless sin.” The Vatican’s pronouncement states that same-sex unions are “not ordered to the Creator’s plan” and specifies that acknowledging such unions is “illicit.” This is news for at least two reasons.

One: The Vatican’s statement reaffirms biblical truth at a time when such morality is under increasing pressure and rejection.

Two: The Vatican’s statement shows that Christians can engage the culture without compromising their convictions. Pope Francis has famously welcomed LGBTQ advocates to the Vatican and responded to questions about gays, “Who am I to judge?” But his desire to share the grace of Christ has been balanced with his commitment to the truth of Christ.

Michael Youssef said in an interview on his book, Hope for This Present Crisis, “We must take charge. Christians have abandoned so many areas of society, from media and the classroom. Instead of withdrawing, we need to go and invade these areas and take them for Christ and not be afraid. We are on the right side. We have read the last chapter, and it says we will win.”
