It's January so it's time to tighten down on eating and exercise. My goal for 2024 is to get down under 200 pounds, for the first time in years and years. For the wedding last March I made it down to 211 and stayed near there through September. Then for SAP conversion we had lunch catered every day for 2-1/2 months, so I gained a little back. I'm going back on the plan that took me from 252 to 211: running and lifting weights five days, walking 9 holes on Saturdays, with yardwork on Sundays. Gonna be tough with the current stressful work situation.

Cutting back even more on what I eat, especially during the day. No more fast food or French fries, which I had mixed in during previous diets. Salads instead of sandwiches. No bread, potatoes, rice, chips, or crackers. Okay to cheat on occasion. As if my blog isn't boring enough already, I'm considering posting everything I eat.

Tuesday: cookie. Chocolate covered caramel pretzel treats. Spaghetti and salad.

Wednesday: cookie. Protein shake. Dilly Bar. Bacon. Black eyed peas. Collards. Spaghetti. Roasted sweet potatoes. Okay, so I have some improvements to make.

BOBO NEWSOM   [SABR Bio] was signed five separate times by team manager and owner Clark Griffith, in part because he was Griffith's favorite pinochle partner. Newsom suited up for WSH in 1935-36-37; 1942; 1943; 1946; 1949; & 1952. In 1938, Newsome's record was 20-16. His ERA was 5.08. He still did, however, make the AllStar team and finished in the top five in the MVP voter. No AL pitcher who won 20 games ever had an ERA that high. Newsom won the season openers for the Browns in 1938 & 39. Then, opening for DET in 1940 & 41, lost both to the Browns. In his career, he was his team's Opening Day starter eight times with a 4-4 record.
