April 28 Warrior Loss

One of these days I’d like us to beat the Powder Springs Yankees…I know we have the talent. Saturday we gave them five runs in the top of the first, then outplayed them the rest of the way, outscoring them 8 – 5 in the last four innings. All without Joey, Russell, Clay, Michael, and John Fulton.

...Fresh off his Virginia vacation, Andrew went 2 for 2 with a walk and a run scored. He caught three innings, throwing out at least one runner at second.
...Christian had a big game as well, on both offense and defense. He ended the third inning by fielding a grounder at his second-base position and confidently flipping the ball to first for the out. The Yankees were poised for another big inning in the fourth when they singled to right. Christian charged the ball and fired home, hitting cutoff man David and holding the runner at second to one base. David fired to second to nail the batter, and Christian’s little dance was witnessed by at least one coach. At the plate Christian led off the big third inning with a hit and advanced to third, where with no out and the meat of the order up smartly held his ground when the ball rolled away. He scored the first of seven runs in the inning on David’s hit.
...Corey caught two innings and played first and center. He had a single and scored a run.
Did I mention his key play in the Thursday game while catching, when he flipped the ball backhanded to Will to nail the runner trying to score on a passed ball?
...Curtis had another of his diving catches in center, and played first and third as well. The centerfielder made a nice play on his hit in the second, but in the third Curtis had an RBI single.
...David pitched four innings and only allowed one earned run. Twice he alertly covered first on balls hit to the first baseman. At the plate he singled with the bases loaded.
...Jake showed off his speed again, scoring two runs and knocking in another. He almost slid a couple of times...Josiah had a nice assist at first, flipping to David covering the base.
...Nick’s arm was so bad he couldn’t play the field, but he walked all three times and scored a run. Twice with a runner on third he perfectly took second, once successfully drawing a throw to allow Jake time to swipe home safely.
...Thomas played second and right, but didn’t reach base.
...Will walked all three times and scored a run. At shortstop he had four putouts and an assist, and struck out three batters while pitching the fifth inning.
