Braves all stars: Snitker, Acuna, Fried, d’Arnauld, Contreras, and Swanson. No Riley. Snit may take most of the coaching staff as well. Liked this poster of Fried, based on the “old” Speed movie.

Not much here. Friday night we ate dinner at the Earharts, with my other friend Reid and his wife Noelle. Lee and Nancy were hosting a pastor and his wife from Poland, so said their country is less than 1% Christian.

This past Friday Ceil took Winnie to be fixed. She has been out of sorts ever since. Hardly moved on Friday and Saturday. She’s a little better today but still moving around weirdly.

Squeezed in nine holes of golf early Saturday morning. Started to play a second nine, but as we arrived at the tenth green just after 8 am the rain started pouring down. The green was near the street, so I trudged back to my car that way. The trees didn’t offer much shelter from the rain. Stopped by Wendys on the way home. Took a late morning nap. Later I drove C to an estate sale near the Marietta Square. Homemade pizza for supper. M cooked bacon to put on one of the pizzas.

Sunday School and worship. Dan Arnold shared about his recent trip overseas. At least four other couples from our class are stuck in London with covid: Fox, Chiles, Keys, and Rices. Later we found out Anna tested positive for covid, so you won’t see her at Taqueria tonight. We all tested negative. I took another nap, did some laundry, and caught up on season 2 of Only Murders in the Building. Today they announced there would be a season three.

Worked from home today. Car in the shop getting brakes. After work we’re headed to the visitation for my friend Steve’s father.

Good news: the running shoes I ordered back on June 24 finally shipped. Supposed to deliver tomorrow. Might wear them to the Braves game tomorrow night. Shiv was wearing her new Jordans.

DENISON: a Washington Post study reported notes people with the highest levels of optimism enjoyed a life span 11-15% longer than those who were the least optimistic. Research links optimism to eating a healthy diet, staying physically active, and being less likely to smoke cigarettes. Optimists also tend to manage stress in healthy ways.

The keys to living well for a long time: moving at a moderate pace, getting enough sleep, and eating well.

MIKE HESSMAN [B-R Bio] his grand slam for Toledo on 03-Aug-2015 was his 433rd, passing Buzz Arlett on the all-time minor league list. It was his last. He was a member of the bronze medal-winning US team at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. Hessman holds the career home run records for Toledo (184) and for the International League (288), and is in the International League’s Hall of Fame. Mike also played for the Atlanta Braves.

Batters hit-by-pitch twice in the same inning.

When Jesus was talking about how the salt had become tasteless, I’m pretty sure He was talking about these bad boys right here.
