Or is it mad man?
Worked longer than I would've like yesterday, past 5:30. Stopped by Wendys to cash in their free single burger deal. Sat in the drive thru line for a while, but it wasn't moving. This was the Wendys that had been torn down and rebuilt. When it reopened the service was great. Not yesterday. Decided to go inside, but then the app wasn't working. I left. I just had to get across town to my 6:30 meeting so I didn't have all day for "fast" food. Usually I don't mind going inside. Seems like these days fast food places devote all their resources to the drive thru and neglect customers who take the time to come inside (except Chickfila).
The line wasn't moving next door at Taco Bell either, so I peeled out and made my way to the usually reliable McDonalds on my usual route home. Same deal – another slow moving line. Decided to go inside. No line, but it still took forever. I was five minutes late to small group.
If everyone is so concerned about global warming / climate change / sustainability / etc, why is nothing ever said about all the SUVs idling in drive thrus and bus stops and driving at breakneck speeds, instead of going slower to conserve gas? My engineer friend at GE says the GE bigwigs are committed to converting to green technology in the next few years, but the engineers have yet to figure out how to make it work. He says it's the same thing at all the other companies like GE.
Why are so many natural disasters happening all at the same time? Is it a sign of the end times – the "birth pains"? (ME: has anyone done a study to determine if the frequency has actually increased?). Also at least 100 countries are working to develop digital currency – another sign?
My take on climate change, based on listening and reading what actual scientists have to say: yes, the world's climate is constantly changing. Ever listen to Glenn Burns talking about shifts in the jet stream and such? Climate change is not man made. Nothing man can do will change the world's climate.
Pollution is another matter, and should be addressed. But even though the US has already made tremendous strides cleaning up their act, it is offset by China and the rest of the world continuing to pollute. In the end, God is in control. Perhaps the best thing the Earth's inhabitants can do to save the planet is to follow God. Perhaps then God still stave off the coming end times.
Maybe the South Carolina Gamecocks are so bad because they wear the same jerseys the Falcons used to wear.
I think there may be a new rule next year limiting the number of times a pitcher can throw to first. Not sure. I wonder it when the clock ticks down, the pitcher can throw the pitch even if the batter isn't in the box. Umpires love stuff like that, calling the pitch a strike even if its not close to the plate. Never see such nonsense in MLB. And maybe the clock is for both the pitcher AND hitter ???

He had four seasons with at least 210 hits and 100 walks. Had 215+H and 100+BB = 1927, 1930, 1931 & 1934. He was the first 20th century player to hit four home runs in a game, on 04-Jun-1932.
Worked late on Friday. Watched a Hallmark movie.
Early golf on Saturday, then to the annual Cobb EMC meeting. Got home in time for the end of ESPN College Gameday. Then UGA@SC and OleMiss@GT. Cleaned upstairs and did a bunch of laundry. Then to the Brasfields for ribs with the Halls, Earharts, Chos, and Chiles. The Brasfields had just returned from Greece. Preston had been there with Danny Downing. The Chiles had been in North Africa and Spain with Jamie, the Halls in Highlands NC, and the Earharts at the casino in Biloxi. Quite the setup. I had the Milos iced tea. SWEETENED! Home to see the end of the Clemson game.
Sunday: Falcons@Rams. Turkey burgers for supper.
Ran three miles Monday morning. Monday was our first small group meeting of the year. Same guys less Jamie and Ron. Rob is out of town so it will be John, my other friend Reid, and me.
DENISON: Queen Elizabeth II designed her funeral. She chose the music and readings for her service. Each song was Scripture set to music or worship directed to the Almighty. And each reading came directly from the word of God. Her funeral was so God-honoring because she lived her life the same way. True awe of God produces true humility toward God which leads to true service to others.
Cool that the Queen stood at the same exact place we visited years later.
