Golf Golf Golf

Friday night MC was sick in bed. Will was at work until 1030 pm, so C stayed there and put the girls to bed, and picked up a prescription for MC. I worked late, and ate leftover lasagna for supper.

Saturday: up early to golf. About 44 degrees, so it wasn't too bad. Then to work. Then to Chick-fil-A for another free milkshake (chocolate). Publix for stamps. Dropped off Christmas cards at the post office. Then further east to the PGA Superstore at Sugarloaf to pick up a little putter for Shivonne for Christmas.

On the long drive home I stopped by Kroger for eggs. Didn't get home until like 3 pm. Watched golf:  Tiger & Charlie and Annika and her son. Kuchar and son shot a 57. Daly. Justin Thomas and his dad. Stricker and his daughter, who is headed to the Wisconsin Badgers on a golf scholarship. R Goosen.

Will made a house call Saturday afternoon to check on Joel. Guess he's okay. A&C looked at a house for sale in Smyrna.

Sunday AM golf, then work. After church C had a ladies lunch in Dunwoody. We have a retirement party for my friend Rob from 4-6. Gonna be almost 60 people there, so I walked the 1.2 miles to the retirement party. Big crowd. So I got in my 10000 steps. Watched Peyton's Places, with guest Brian Bosworth. The Boz only played 25 NFL games before retiring early due to shoulder injuries. Actor Michael Douglass reached out and the Boz started doing movies. Then he was cast in Revelation Road – and became a Christian during filming.

Ate Ceil's homemade chicken salad for supper. Later we watched Ravens@Jaguars. QB Trevor Lawrence bought his offensive linemen 14 tricked out EZGo golf carts. Must've included tight ends.

Saints in black jerseys and pants and socks vs Giants in white jerseys and pants. Panthers in head to toe black vs Falcons in white jerseys pants socks and shoes.

At the doctor I am terrible about asking questions or remembering details about what the doctor says. I am not a good question asker either.

C is always on the go. After C was sick all day Wednesday and Thursday AM, she has been on the go ever since. Yesterday she left for church at 945 and didn't get home until 7 pm. She was up late working on a project. She still has a cough.

This morning I played golf again, because it will be super cold the rest of the week. Might can play on Saturday. This AM I was the only one out on the course. Hit 3-4 balls on every shot. I have improved, but still have a long way to go. Hit the green on a few par 3s and on some approach shots. I've been concentrating more on my putting, and made a few putts of decent distance. Also hit several cruddy shots. This weekend I was out of cruddy balls so I was hitting the nicer Callaways, and I lost several along the way. Last night I stocked my bag with 25 cruddy balls. I don't think I lost a single ball all day.

JIM GILLIAM [SABR Biohad exactly 100 BB in 1953 and never reached that number again in his 17-year career, including his 3 years with the Baltimore Elite Giants from 1946-1948. He had been an All-Star every year with BEG. He was easily the first choice for NL ROY in 1953. This despite fellow rookie Harvey Haddix nearly doubling Gilliam's WAR of 3.9 while posting 20 wins, a 3.06 ERA, and a NL-best 6 shutouts in his 253 IP in 1953. He was the only 20th century rookie to reach 100 walks. He had a career-high 17 triples in 1953, to lead the majors.

DENISON: seven people were arrested in Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands last week on suspicion of planning attacks against Jewish institutions in Europe. Four were suspected Hamas members. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded: "Hamas strives to expand around the world—and in Europe in particular—to hit Israeli, Jewish, and Western targets at any cost." A British columnist, citing the rise of antisemitism, warns: "If calls for 'jihad' are taken literally, with young men believing they should fight a holy war on our streets, then we may face the worst terrorist threat since al-Qaeda or ISIS." Hamas is ramping up its propaganda war to inculcate antisemitism among young people in the larger Muslim world; #freepalestine is now found on 39 times more Facebook posts than #standwithisrael. If the terrorist group's hatred of Jews spreads across the West, the October 7 atrocities may be the beginning of a larger genocidal movement against the Jewish people and everyone who supports them.
