Predictions: UGA

All of Georgia’s regular season games this year are winnable. They could run the table. Some fans will be mad if they don’t. Actually winning them is another matter. Play from the quarterback position is key. We know that pretty boy from last year won’t be able to beat the tougher teams. Georgia’s only shot is for the freshman to step up early, to gain enough experience to be ready to beat the big boys. As usual, Tennessee and Florida are the key games. Here’s where my dart throws landed:

9.03 vs UNC in Atlanta. UNC isn’t as good as everyone thinks. The Heels are ACC good. That often times doesn’t play well against SEC opponents. Kirby Smart wants to make a statement, but is hindered by his offensive backfield: Chubb and Michel are coming off injuries, as well as the question marks at QB. Dawgs win the opener. 1-0.

9.10 vs Nichols State. Eason’s coming out party? Yes. 2-0.

9.17 at Missouri. The Tigers are down and have a new coach. They’ll come out strutting, and have a few athletes. Winning on the road won’t be easy. I say they won’t beat both Missouri and Ole Miss. 3-0.

9.24 at Ole Miss. After a big 2015, the Rebels are down. The still have an excellent QB. Can the Dawgs contain him? Can the Dawgs win two straight on the road? Can the Dawgs maintain momentum after a big win one the road? Brought together, it’s too much to ask. Dawgs lose. 3-1.

10.01 vs Tennessee. Last year Georgia lost Chubb early and still almost won. Many are picking the Vols to win the East. This year the roll into Athens highly touted, undefeated on the heels of a thrilling victory in Knoxville over the hated Gators. With the big head, Tennessee is brought down to earth. UGA rebounds, running their record to 4-1.

10.08 at SC. The Cocks are having a long year, but put up a fight against Georgia. It isn’t enough, and the Dawgs win another close one. 5-1.

10.15 vs Vandy. Close in the first half. Just long enough for the fans from Nashville to think they have a chance. Just When they get cocky, Chubb breaks free late. 6-1.

10.29 vs Florida. Take away a couple of key plays last year and Georgia’s third-string QB might’ve upset Florida – without Nick Chubb. Firing on all cylinders, the Dawgs crack the top ten. 7-1.

11.05 at Kentucky. In a close game, Georgia rallies late to clinch the East.  8-1.

11.12 vs Auburn. Another close game, but the Dawg defense stiffens in the fourth quarter. 9-1.

11.19 vs Louisiana Lafayette. Everybody plays. 10-1.

11.26 vs Georgia Tech. A close game – for one quarter. 11-1.

12.03 vs Alabama in Atlanta. Dawgs are no match for Saban’s deep Tide. 11-2.

1.01 vs Clemson. Tigers haven’t played in over a month, and the rust shows. The Dawgs contain Clemson, and Watson ends his collegiate career with a rare loss. 12-2.
Chubb does not win the Heisman. Neither does Watson. The guy from Stanford does. Kind of a lifetime achievement award/makeup call for his 2015 performance.

Sure, Georgia could lose more: Missouri, Tennessee, and Florida will be tough. Some unreasonable fans would be unhappy with an 8-4 record after a coaching change, starting a freshman quarterback. What world do they live in?
