How the West was Fun

Anna left out with four roommates Sunday on their wild west road trip, so we’ve been tracking their progress. She and another girl are coming back after a couple of weeks or so, but Alex and the others are traveling until the end of June. Photos courtesy of Anna and Alex.
In years past I have plotted out road trips to see various sights, figuring out routes, miles, and the hours it would take on each leg. I enjoy driving places and seeing the scenery along the way but as I get older fear getting sleepy and fighting traffic. Read a blog about a guy who drove cross country to see every park, and want to read a book about a similar adventure.
Here's Anna's itinerary:

May 12 Athens to Dallas 853 miles
06:04 am depart S Milledge Avenue in Athens
09:46 am Crestline Bagel Company Mountain Brook AL (Bham)
11:28 am pass Tuscaloosa AL
02:54 pm near Louisiana state line (+/-halfway point)
06:20 pm Texas state line
08:47 pm tacos at Barcadia in Dallas
May 13 breakfast at Breadwinners Bakery & Café. Spent the night on a ranch west of Abilene. They may or may not have shot guns.

5.14 drive to Austin 200 miles. Lazarus Brewing.
To come: Marfa TX, Las Cruces NM, White Sands Natl Monument, Tuscon, sunset at Saguero Natl Park, Salvation Mtn CA, Joshua Tree Natl Park, San Clemente, Laguna Beach & Newport Beach, Sherman Oaks CA, Seven Magic Mtns NV & Las Vegas, Valley of Fire State Park, Mandalay Bay, Grand Canyon AZ, Antelope Canyon AZ, Lake Powell, Zion National Park & Glendale UT, Zion Narrows, Zion coral pink sand dunes, Capitol Reef Natl Park Moab UT, Arches Natl Park, Salt Lake City.

So buckle up. Gonna be a lot of Anna updates for the rest of the month, with a few exceptions.
