Saturday

Never can have too many photos of Bill Voiselle, from Ninety Six South Carolina, a tiny hamlet in Greenwood County. Named not for being 96 miles from somewhere, but because it was located in parcel #96. Or something like that.

R
andom thoughts continued from yesterday: Pujols is one of the all-time greats. Hated that he went to the Dodgers and not back to the Cards. Or Braves, but we’ve got Pablo Sandoval.

Drives me crazy when pitchers keep throwing balls nowhere close to the plate. Man if I was a hitter I’d make those ball-throwers throw a strike. Other pitchers with more control, I would swing at the first pitch. But the pitchers smart enough to throw strikes would have the scouting report on who was a first pitch swinger, and not throw them strikes. It’s a viscous circle.

On Twitter I’ve been blocking Braves fans who complain. Trying to just get Braves news on there. Also Hawks news, Grizzlies news, Grizz Gaming news, and other news, jokes, and old sports stuff.

So Nike is unveiling all these MLB "city edition" uniforms. Marlins. Giants. White Sox. In April Boston had special uniforms for Patriots Day. I know the Braves are selling a city edition cap, that's been widely panned. Not sure about extra uniforms or a jerseys. NBA teams have numerous uniforms to wear during their 82 game schedule. MLB is getting to be the same way. Here's the Cubs new costume.

Had a dream about Bart Starr. He was somewhere and we were in the same place. He talked to me. Nice guy, in my dream.

Not really an Aaron Rodgers fan, but gotta like the nerd side of him. Article: Rodgers’ role model should be another Packer quarterback.

Ceil took Winnie down to visit Anna Wednesday afternoon. Winnie took a nap down there. When she got back home she was too tired to walk across the room. I had to pick her up to take her outside. She saw a couple taking a walk, and softy barked – then barked louder. It was the first time she had ever barked. Then she turned and ran back toward the house. It was so funny.

After work Wednesday I had a focus group. Didn’t take long, trying out different paper towels. Had to wash my hands about 12 times. Not bad work. Since C was gone I took my time on the way home, stopping for ice cream, two thrift stores, and Circle K. Watched more Kominsky Method, the Michael Douglass show. Was tired and went to bed early.

Thursday: left work shortly after five. Made two stops to buy over $20 of groceries, a rarity for me. Next week I’ll be working from home for 3 or 4 days, and I’m completely out of most of my regular items. Supper was spaghetti and meatballs, with tossed salad.

Winnie was crazier than usual. Had to put on long sleeves so she wouldn’t scratch up my arms so much. We’re trying to train her. She loves her ball. This morning she jumped off the ottoman again to see me, which is a leap for a pup her size. Later this morning she climbed the staircase (a first) and went to our master bath to take a nap. She must like it up there. With the lights off its darker up there than downstairs.

IVAN RODRIGUEZ  [SABR Bio] his record for doubles by a catcher was broken by Jonathan Lucroy in 2014. -  Ans.   I-Rod had hit 47 2B in 1996, but Lucroy, catching for MIL hit 53 2B. (Lucroy never hit half that many in any other season).  Ivan was the catcher for Kenny Rogers’ perfect game on 28-Jul-1994  Twelve years later, he and Rogers were the first teammates this century to form a starting battery in the All-Star Game. 2006 ASG. Both played for DET that year. Ivan is one of only three catchers triple in the All-Star game. Triples by catchers in ASG play = Rollie Hemsley in 1935, Gabby Hartnett in 1936 & I-Rod in 2004.

Shoes of the day: saw this pair of Puma GV Special tennis shoes. I've hot three pairs of white sneakers, including a pair of Stan Smiths. The soles of these Pumas didn't seem thick enough. I passed.
