Dollar Sliders

For lunch yesterday I went to Arbys for their Dollar sliders. They were okay. Just a little Kings Hawaiian bun with a little chicken tender. About what a buck gets you these days. Sure not worth any more than a dollar. Not a thumbs up or down. I rank them below Taco Bell cheesy bean & rice burritos when they're a dollar.

This weekend I shared and prayed about my work frustrations with a couple of Sunday School friends, and gave the issue over to God. Then first thing Monday I was hit with a huge new project that home office "needs" (that we never did before).  Accounting wants us to completely reconcile 200# items that are constantly changing every day. Pretty much an impossible task. Kinda my exact job for the past 15 years, except you can't pin down all 200+ at the same time - especially as shorthanded as we are, doing 4 times the work we were doing on the previous system. We're still working out the bugs and learning SAP.

I typed an email to my boss with my concerns and frustrations – then sent the email to accounting. Oops. Tried to put it out of my mind, but last night I couldn't sleep about it. Then at the gym this morning it was dominating my thoughts – even though God gave me the idea to let our new employee handle the project. I'm just so snowed under with all this other stuff. So much thrown at me that I'm making mistakes.

Worked past six last night. Drove straight home. Ceil fixed black beans and rice. Also tossed a salad. Ceil watched The Voice. So many auditioning got their start singing in church – as did several of the judges. I played on my laptop.

Today is Super Tuesday, with presidential primaries in several key battleground states. And mysteriously, both Facebook and Instagram weren't working. Is free speech under attack?

DENISON: American statistician Nate Silver reports: "Gemini's artificial intelligence results are heavily inflected with politics that render it biased, inaccurate, and misinformative." Google's seven core AI principles include no mandate for it to be honest or unbiased. Its first core principle, "Be socially beneficial," is especially concerning. Google interprets this principle with regard to "cultural, social, and legal norms in the countries where we operate." With no principled attempt to present honest or unbiased results, Google's images and search engine results reflect the company's views on what being "socially beneficial" constitutes.

Cultural commentator Andrew Sullivan goes further by examining ways Google's use of AI will accelerate its biased control of our internet use (it commands more than 90% of the search engine market) and our larger culture: "from every search we make to every AI request we type, Google will embed neoracism, anti-whiteness, and critical race, gender, and queer theory. Google can indoctrinate by simply removing facts from the ether, or altering them to "prevent harm" . . . in an information system in which wokeness generates a "socially beneficial" reality rather than the actual reality". Given the company's allegations of religious discrimination against it, what will this mean for conservative Christians and anyone else who disagrees with Google's progressive worldview?

A Christian response? "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lᴏʀᴅ who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lᴏʀᴅ (Jeremiah 9:23–24).
