Jeff Knox 2019

Augusta National club champion Jeff Knox made another appearance yesterday. His 74 was three strokes more than playing partner Eddie Pepperell but equal or better than ten actual competitors.
After praising Knox, Pepperell made sure the press knew he bested the 56 year-old amateur, alluding to the year Knox shot lower than Rory McElroy. One golf magazine said Knox's simple swing was the foundation any aspiring professional could emulate. With the early Sunday start due to impending storms, players teed off in threesomes from both the first and tenth tees. This left two players to go off as a twosome, so I don't think Knox was needed on Sunday.

Without an equipment sponsor to outfit him in the latest performance wear, Knox appeared to play dressed head to toe in cotton - including a Masters cap, shirt, belt, and bag. Rumors swirl that in the future Knox will be replaced by an amateur or younger club member.

Another story coming out of Augusta today: the tournament was won by Tiger Woods. His son and daughter, accompanied by Woods' mother and girlfriend, finally got to see him win a major.
On Friday Woods survived an encounter with an energetic GBI agent. After the win Nike debuted a new Tiger commercial.
Another big story: Tony Finau's Air Max golf shoes.
Each day he wore a different color.
Note the praying hands logo on the heel (above). Finau is a Mormon who grew up in Salt Lake City, taking up golf to avoid neighborhood gangs.
Last year Finau famously sprained his ankle celebrating a hole in one at the Wednesday par three tournament. The high ankle sprain would've kept an NFL player out for weeks, but Finau played through the pain for the next four days.

Finau wasn't the only one wearing Air Max.
Jason Day wore the all-white version.

Day famously wore Air Force Ones in last year's British Open.
