Question of the Day: Who is your favorite George?

I said Plimpton, Blanda, and Stone. Any George except the dreaded Jeff.

The mysterious interstellar object is morphing in unexplained ways as it moves closer to Earth. Perhaps it is time to start praying that God spares us from any unforeseen calamities? Probably something we should be doing anyway. Pretty sure this is Trump’s fault.
DENISON: Patrick Deneen (political science professor at Notre Dame) wrote Why Liberalism Failed. He describes “liberalism” as “rights-bearing individuals who pursue their own version of the good life.” This view has led many to jettison everything that constrains individual freedom, including religion, societal mores, and legal strictures. Western culture has “evolved” to a place of existential freedom in the quest for a temporal utopia. How is this working for us? Deneen notes “70% of Americans believe the US is moving in the wrong direction,” while “government shows declining levels of public trust” He concludes, “Nearly every one of the promises that were made by the creators of liberalism has been shattered - Liberalism failed—because it was true to itself.” By removing constraints on human behavior built by religious teaching and legal structures, liberalism has freed us to be our fallen selves. And when my “will to power” collides with yours, conflicts abound, terrorists attack, wars are launched, and the weak are oppressed by the strong.
