Anna in Vegas

While more interested in hanging out at roommate Alex's uncle's pool,
the girls took time to pose for pictures in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile down in Hilton Head, Will played golf at Harbour Town,
home of the PGA Tour's Heritage Classic.

Mary-Clayton rode along in the cart, acting as alligator spotter.

Ceil and I hiked up Mt. Yonah in North Georgia, just south of Helen.
The hike up was steep and hard for some,
but in the shade most of the way. Nice breeze at the top.
Below: that bright spot in the forest below is the parking area,
2-1/3 miles down the trail. Going down was much easier.
Will and Joel have camped here several times.

Took thirty minutes longer on the way up than it did going down.
Not sure what went wrong with my Apple Watch Elevation Gain feature on the way down.

Stopped by a country store with thousand of nic nacs.
KnickKnacks? Several flavors of popcorn seasonings.
Note the cool metal animal planters at the lower left.
 When pigs fly.
R.I.P. Bart Starr. Graduate of Sidney Lanier High in Montgomery. Played for Bear Bryant at Alabama and Vince Lombardi in Green Bay. MVP of the first two Super Bowls. Scored the game-winning touchdown in the Ice Bowl.

Photo Sunday

The trip continues. Alex on Laguna Beach.

Saturday the drove to Las Vegas.
Today they're hanging out by the pool.
I need to roll down my window before snapping pictures.

Above: Will, Thomas (L), and Zack (R) on Hilton Head.
Today Ceil and I dove downtown.
Westside Provisions and the bridge over the train tracks.
Stopped by Jeni's Ice Cream at Westside provisions on Howell Mill. I got Biscuits & Peach Jam and Brambleberry Crisp.
You can't go to Ponce City Market without taking a picture.
 Monkey in the middle.
To celebrate the NFL's 100th season the Dolphins are breaking out these beauties. Since they're labeled as a color rush uniform, Miami can also wear their contrasting aqua throwback uniforms if they so choose.
The Reds wore their 1919 throwback uniform this past weekend,
the third of twelve throwbacks they're wearing
to celebrate their 150th anniversary.

Above: a team in last year's Little League World Series wore WE>ME instead of names on the backs of their jerseys. A Cobb County high school basketball team did so as well, and more and more teams are picking up on the growing trend.
Below: my new white Nikes.
I've been remiss to not drop in my old high school pal friendly Bob Brewster, now a mild-mannered vet in Athens. Bob doesn't do social media. Imagine that! When I transferred to Miller Junior High in 8th Grade, Bob was one of my first new friends. More on Bob next week.

Stripers Game

Made it out to CoolRay Park this afternoon for my first Stripers game of the year. It was my first time in a luxury suite there, thanks to Hot Stove host Johnny Tallant (lower right, red shirt). Here's the view.

The hallway outside the suites detailed the history of the franchise.

Yep, that's Babe Ruth at the lower left.

Didn't take many jersey photos. Did get three or four compliments on my 1976 Braves Andy Messersmith jersey.
Enjoyed wearing my vintage red suede Nike Blazer high tops.
They're super light and look great,
but not the best for doing a lot of walking.
Nabbed a couple of Acuna bobbleheads, and sold them as fast as I got them. Saw a few of the bobblehead gang, including running mate LJ and his wife. Also Eric and Alan. Also chatted with new Stripers GM Adam English. Missed seeing old Hugh, Katie and the Maldanado clan.
Dansby slugged two home runs Friday night, including one to straightaway centerfield. He's showing why he was the college player of the year and number one overall draft choice. Sometimes it takes a player a couple of years to get his feet under him. Dansby had been rushed through the minor leagues, jumping straight from AA past AAA and straight to the big leagues. Must be the socks.
