McMansion

Sunday afternoon after visiting with Anna we drove past the current version of our old house on Hillpine. It's undergone a complete renovation from 3 BR / 2 bath / one garage to 5 BR / 4 baths / 2 car garage - with a pool in back. The only recognizable feature of the house is the right front (below).
The house did have a large backyard, which now features a pool. The house is for sale for almost ten times what we sold it for almost 30 years ago. Sure, tons of money was put in the house - it has more than twice as much space. No regrets - had we stayed, we would've missed out on so many blessings.
Caught Michael Douglass on The Tonight Show Friday night (actually Saturday morning). He was talking up the third season of his Netflix series, so I gave it a watch. Two old men. Lots of cussin, which is what people these days consider groundbreaking and cutting edge. Constant cameos by numerous Hollywood celebrities.
When I was in 9th or 10th grade I started going to nearby Northside Christian Church. The rest of my family started going there as well. We all got baptized on Easter Sunday 1975. When I moved up to GT I looked for a “Christian” church to attend. The first Sunday I attended Peachtree Christian Church, and the corner of Spring and Peachtree near White Columns. Completely different from my more casual church in Macon.  As I was leaving an old lady in front of me had fallen on the steps, hurting herself. I helped comfort her, and when a crowd gathered around her I slipped out, never to return.

My best friend from high school was also a freshman at Tech. He got me going both to the GT BSU and Wieuca Road Baptist. I attended there most of my freshman year. Our college class had a great old teacher: Doug Maag. Always wore a grey suit. Bill Self was a good preacher as well. I always remember his 1978 Mother’s Day sermon, profiling mothers in the Bible.

At the BSU there was a FBC crowd, a Wieuca crowd, and a SPdL crowd. I was becoming good friends with Yearwood, who went to SPdL. Also Fred O, John Rose, Don Sells, and Wayne Smith. By late spring 1978 I started going to SPdL with them, playing in the Sunday School volleyball league and then the worship services. Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday nights. Loved Marsh’s preaching, and how a college guy could get to know not just other college students but also parents and kids as well. We’d go to the movie nights and talent shows in the fellowship hall.

Sophomore year I lived in an apartment with Sells, Smith, and Mike Kirkland, and we all went to SPdL. Often went out to eat afterwards at Po Folks or Western Sizzlin. Or cooked pork chops and moon biscuits together at the apartment.  I eventually joined the Chapel Choir and went on three choir tours – two to Colorado Springs and one to Rochester New York. My senior year I was Chapel Choir president, and helped write up the little tour booklets given out to each student. Also the Camp SPdL booklets. At the BSU I went on mission trips to Terre Haute Indiana and Elmira New York, as well as every fall and spring statewide BSU Convention at Rock Eagle.

I look at JFBC and wonder how/if they'll keep growing. Lots of programs – sports, choirs, and kids activities. Kind of like SPdL in its heyday. Lots of folks moving into the community, but you’d think that has slowed down. More ethnicities moving into East Cobb for the schools, but JF is mostly white. Our SS class is an exception. Plenty of older people at JF, but even more younger folk.  Are all the JF Sunday School classes as good as mine? Longtime JF minister of music will be retiring soon, if he hasn’t already. He mostly lead traditional worship service and adult choir, while younger folk already lead service in gym and youth choirs. Also good solid preaching from engaging lead pastor. Lots of mission trips for people to go on, like at North Point. Not sure if JF has a big singles ministry.

David Lewis married Sheri Hall. I saw them in JF services serval Sundays after their wedding, but not after that. Maybe due to covid, not sure. They’re buddies with Danny Downing, who always seems to be traveling to one conference or another. Heather Swilley was in Lang’s grade – she has a child graduating from high school. Heather is an Auburn fan, but her daughter will attend Alabama. Heather’s husband Lee Taylor is on staff at JF, seems to be a solid guy. Tracy Taylor lives in Birmingham, but both her kids are in colleges in the Carolinas. Chad Eaton lives in Charlotte. His son is going to go to Auburn.

Our SS class has three main teachers, plus a fourth occasional teacher. All four are excellent. I’m not as much of a fan of the emphasis they put on discussions. We so often break into small groups, though most of the men in the class are quite insightful. Some say large classes should split to encourage growth, and I think that’s one of the reasons why my class splits off into smaller discussion groups, plus the care through prayer time when we pair off to pray one on one, instead of having a drawn out corporate prayer time in class. That way it’s easier to get to know people better. Plus our small groups that meet weekly, at a different time. I’ve been in various groups with Rob, Joe, Buddy, Ron, and John, plus a missionary care group with four other couples.

Above: remember these?
Sheltered as I was, I only saw them from a distance.
Below: a good idea.

On Memorial Day I'm remembering Clint Castleberry, who earned All-American honors as a Georgia Tech freshman in 1942 before losing his life overseas in WWII. From Boys High, Castleberry finished third in the Heisman voting behind UGA's Frank Sinkwich. Tech retired his number 19, the only retired number on the Flats.

R.I.P. BJ Thomas

BJ Thomas passed away yesterday. Loved his voice. Hooked on a Felling. Raindrops Keep Fallin on My Head. Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song. After years of addition to drugs and alcohol, Thomas found Jesus and sobered up. Love Boat captain Merrell Stubing, played by Gavin MacLeod, traveled a similar route. I liked him best as copywriter Murray Slaughter on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
The Carolina Disco Turkeys, a new team based in Winston Salem, unveiled their uniforms this week.
The sleeves were inspired by the Braves uniforms of the early 1970's, but with the recognizable eye of the peacock's feather, along with the bands of color. Too bad the front of the Turkey's jerseys aren't as appealing.
Several Bojangles near me closed down. Love their biscuits. Last week I got a Wendy’s BOGO bason egg and cheese biscuits. Bacon was perfect – crisp not chewy. Biscuits hadn’t been fully microwaved – very doughy. Ugh. America’s favorite breakfast my foot.

Thursday: the office brought in Chickfila biscuits since we had to come in early to set up the new phone system. I haven’t really studied all its features. After work I took a rowing class. Good exercise, but not really my thing. Stir fry for supper. Winner is getting better at the nighttime routine.

Friday was the last work day of the month, so plenty to do.

Fridays at the office are designated as wear a cap day. Usually not really my thing, but recently I’ve been wearing caps more to better shield the glare of the sun. So many lights in the office that I decided to wear a cap inside today. Wore my new 2014 Braves spring training cap. I’ll try to wear a different cap every Friday.

Watched some Seinfelds, including the one where George's girlfriend (The Drew Carey Show's Christa Miller) liked him not matter how he dressed.

Tim Tebow has the top selling NFL jersey.
Yesterday actor Luke (Fast & Furious 6) Evans
spent lots of money in Anna's store.

Waxy stuff. Whenever Matthew comes home he has Ceil clean out his ears. She always cleaned out Barney’s ears as well. Never my ears. No wonder I'm hard of hearing.

Friday night we visited Anna's house for the first time.     Winnie got to meet Okie.

Sunday we visited Matthew's Glenwood Avenue bakery. Matthew got to meet Winnie.

CASEY STENGEL  [SABR Bio] hit the first World Series homer in Yankee Stadium. G 1, 1923 WS, 9th inning, an inside-the-park game-winner. In his major league debut he had four hits and a walk. That walk was the only time he went to bat from the other side of the plate, in career of more than 4,000 at-bats. Against the Pirates on 17-Sep-1912. Opposing manager Fred Clarke called him a fresh busher and challenged him to hit righthanded.  He did and drew a walk. He was the first Dodger to lead the National League in on-base percentage. Playing for BRO in 1914, the first year they were called the Robins, Stengel posted a nifty .404 OBP.

CURT FLOOD [SABR Bio] held the National League record for consecutive errorless games played in center field until it was broken up by a future Hall of Famer from his own team. Flood’s 226 straight errorless games at CF ended 04-Jun-1967 when he and LF Lou Brock both tried for a fly ball. The ball fell in when they crashed into each other and Flood complained afterwards about this controversial error. Flood's record was surpassed by Darren Lewis in 1993. He collected the first MLB hit at Parc Jarry. On 14-Apr-1969 in the first regular-season game played outside the U.S., Flood was the second batter in the top of the first inning. He doubled to left. The Expos won the game though, 8-7. He broke up what might have been the second World Series perfect game with a walk in the 7th. BOS starter Jim Lonborg had a perfect game in the 2nd G of the 1967 WS. In the 7th, Flood walked, ending the perfecto bid. Julian Javier doubled in the 8th to end the possibility of a no-hitter.

Denison: A USA Today writer called on AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, to cancel the Promise Keepers Men's Conference scheduled for July 16-17, claiming the stadium is "helping to mainstream hate speech." Vandals toppled a statue of Jesus and burned an American flag outside a Catholic church in Brooklyn, New York. A federal judge denied a request from the College of the Ozarks, a Christian university in Missouri, to be exempted from a Biden administration directive that allows biological men who "identify" as female to live in women's dormitories. An emeritus professor of neuroscience and psychology at Duke University has been removed from an American Psychological Association group for suggesting there are only two sexes.

Most Recognizable?

I had recently considering ranking the best logos in college football. USA Today did it for me - the top-25 most recognizable and iconic college logos, they said. Like many rankings like this, it’s way wrong. Virginia more iconic than Clemson? Neither of the top two programs in the top five? No way.

A logo should be simple, unchanging, and recognizable from a distance. Wearing a different outfit every week can dilute the effectiveness of a good logo. School colors also make a team more recognizable. Wearing all black or grey or white makes a school look like everyone else.

GT used to wear the same uniform in every game of the season: white jerseys with gold helmets and pants. Since they’ve been below average for several years, wearing different unis in literally every game may attract recruits, but the average fan flipping channels has no idea who they are.

25. The Navy north star. Never heard of it.

24. Notre Dame’s ND. Should be higher.

23. Colorado. Logo is too busy.

22. West Virginia’s WV. Simple, but not great.

21. Wyoming bucking horse & rider. Should be higher on the list.

20. Indiana’s interlocking IU. Nah.

19. Arkansas razorback. Decent.

18. Clemson tiger paw. A top five logo, if not #1.

17. Miami’s U. Top ten for sure.

16. UNC. #16 is about right.

15. Michigan State Spartan. #15 is about right.

14. Florida gator. #14 is about right.

13. Virginia. Not a top 25 logo. They just changed it last year.

12. Northwestern N. Ranked too high.

11. Harvard block H. Ranked way too high. No one ever sees Harvard play.

10. Oregon O.

9. Georgia Tech’s GT.

8. Oklahoma’s OU. Could be ranked higher.

7. Texas A&M. Might be slightly too high.

6. Alabama’s script A.

5. Michigan block M

4. Georgia’s oval G

3. Texas Longhorn

2. Tennessee’s T. Simple and good, but not #2.

1. UCLA. Good, but not #1.

Missing: Southern Cal. LSU. Auburn. FSU. Pitt. Nebraska. Arizona State. There’s room for all these in the top 25.

Players may like all-black uniforms, but most of the devoted fans showing up wearing school colors are shaking their heads. As UGA learned, blackout game is fun until the team loses. GT is having so much fun wearing something different every week that they hardly seemed bothered by all the losing.

Winter Spring Reading List

Lately books have been a solace for me, a needed place to escape. In addition to listening to audiobooks during my commute, I’m finally reading books on my phone, as well as a few of the old school books with printed pages. This list represents the books I’ve read from November 2020 through May 2021, in alphabetical order by author. Recommended books in bold.

From a Certain Point of View (Star Wars), by Renee Ahdieh. Compilation of short stories told from the point of view of minor background characters. For the most ardent Star Wars fan, which I am not.

Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife, by Eben Alexander.

Sick in the Head: Conversations About Life and Comedy, by Judd Apatow. Interesting.

Anxious People, by Fredrik Backman. Kind of a goofy story, with a moral.

One Shot at Forever: A Small Town, an Unlikely Coach, and a Magical Baseball Season, by Chris Ballard. Hoosiers in stirrups. Braves manager Brian Snitker (and his parents) have supporting roles. He’s the starting rightfielder, his freshman and sophomore years.

The Power Couple, Alex Berenson. A slow start that gets much better.

I am a Stranger Here Myself: Notes on Returning to America After 20 Years Away, by Bill Bryson. A compilation of once a week columns Bryson wrote for a London newspaper. Perhaps palatable in small doses, but quite weary read back to back. One wonders whether if 13 years later Bryson still holds the same disdain for his native country.

The Alchemist: A Fable About Following Your Dream, Paulo Coelho. Trying to read more of the classics.

The Wives, by Tarryn Fisher. The downsides of polygamy. Not a fan of books where the main character self-destructs.

Talking to Strangers: What We Should Know about the People We Don’t Know, by Malcolm Gladwell

Leadership in Turbulent Times, by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Profiles of Lincoln, LBJ, and both Roosevelts, and crisis’s they faced.

A Time for Mercy: A Jake Brigance Novel, by John Grisham

If I Ever Get Back to Georgia, I’m Gonna Nail my Feet to the Ground, by Lewis Grizzard. Highly recommended, even years later.

The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton. I'll have to watch the movie.

Slingin’ Sam: The Life and Times of the Greatest Quarterback Ever to Play the Game, by Joe Holley. Sammy Baugh took the NFL from its three yards and a cloud of dust origins to the passing game it is today. One of the game’s greatest-ever punters as well.

Blockade Billy, by Stephen King. Baseball is one of the author’s favorite subjects, though he mixes in a little blood into this story.

Ordinary Grace, by William Kent Krueger. Excellent story.

Sandy Koufax: A Lefty’s Legacy, by Jane Leavy. How the introvert dealt with his fame – quite honorably.

Mere Christianity, by CS Lewis

The Upside of Falling, by Alex Light. Fun.

Miracles: What They Are, Why They Happen, and How They Can Change Your Life, by Eric Metaxas

Nine Perfect Strangers, by Liane Moriarty. The first three quarters is decent, but the novel derails towards the end.

Knuckle Balls, by Phil Niekro. A day to day account of his season in the Bronx.

The Last Days of John Lennon, by James Patterson. A complete history of the Beatles.

The Book of Two Ways, by Jodi Picoult. Not the greatest.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, by JK Rowling. Perhaps one day I’ll finish the series. Not my genre.

The Masters: Golf, Money, and Power in Augusta, Georgia, by Curt Sampson. Must read for any fan of the Masters.

Is This Anything? by Jerry Seinfeld. Made better by listening to the audiobook read by the author.

In Five Years, by Rebecca Serle. I’m a sucker for time travel stories.

The Answer Is: Reflections on My Life, by Alex Trebeck

Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis, by JT Vance. A must read. Even better than the excellent movie.

Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams, by Matthew Walker  Too technical. Put me to sleep.

Hating on Phil

Another person people love to hate: Phil Mickelson. Why? Seems like a regular guy. Smiles. Acknowledges the crowd more than most. Poses for pictures with fans. Talks to them. Fought arthritis. Loves his wife. Works hard. Lopes along. Loves sports. Plays fantasy football. Knows every 50 man roster in the NFL. Maybe he’s not cutting edge any more. "Over the hill." A dad. Doesn’t hit it as far as the young guys, but no one’s got a better short game. Old. Tiger’s adversary. Phil was beloved on Kiawah. People say golfers need to be more open, talk more. Phil is one of the few to open up, and people don’t like him for it.

Now without Tiger, Phil and Tom Brady snap their fingers and a match is arranged against Bryson and Aaron Rodgers. Poor Peyton and Eli and Steph Curry are left on the outside looking in. Someone needs to get Justin Timberlake on one of these teams. Brooks Koepka seems to have a thing against Bryson, but that just makes Koepka less appealing.

Wednesday: not much to report. Worked from before 8 am through lunch, and past 5:30. Drove straight home. Ceil had made her peanut butter energy balls, adding coconut, honey, flax seed, and other stuff. Later she fixed taco meat for quesadillas.

We took Winnie outside, and wound up walking her up the street. There was a man sitting in a van outside a neighbor’s house that looked suspicious, that wound up being a dad waiting for his son to arrive back with our neighbor. I think she did a little better last night through the night. She didn’t bother us and this time stayed in our bathroom with the door open, but a gate blocking her. When my alarm went off and I got up and said hello, she was wide awake and glad to see me. C had to get her and put her in the bed, but she was crawling all over the place.

Tough night for the Grizzlies, Hawks, and Braves.

CURT SCHILLING [SABR Bio] had the most strikeouts in a season in the Modern Era among National League righties - 319 K for PHI in 1997. His total of 316 K in 2002 for ARI is second on that list. No retired pitcher in the Modern Era put together a better career strikeout-to-walk ratio. He struck out 4.38 batters for every BB he issued. He lost the first World Series game he ever played in and never got the loss for a World Series game again in his career. Lost Game 1 for the Phillies in 1993 then won his next 6 WS starts: AZ in 2001, Boston in 2004 & 2007. He credits a World Series MVP winner with making him a pitcher.  He later became a world series MVP himself. Johnny Podres (1955 WS MVP, the first time the award was given) was a PHI’s pitching coach for Schilling’s first five seasons. Schilling said, “Outside of the Lord, my wife and my father, there was no person who impacted my life more than Johnny Podres.”  Schilling was the WS MVP in 2001.  Both Podres and Schilling famously took down the Yankees in the Fall Classic.

When Winning Is Not Enough

Last night the Red Sox scored one run in the bottom of the first, and social media started back trashing Morton and Snit. Then the team didn’t allow another run the rest of the game. People get mad if the Braves let another team score one run. Gotta admit I hate it when one of those bearded shaggy-haired husky white-shoe wearing relievers comes in and walks the leadoff hitter.

You play to win no matter the score. I say you let position players pitch to save wear and tear on your regular pitchers. Its all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Rest Freddie Freeman and Acuna at the end of games to save wear and tear.

Braves are just one game behind the first place Mets. Atlanta has a winning road record, Only the Marlins have as good a record in the last ten games. Everyone was saying what a madhouse it was this past Sunday at the Braves bobblehead game. I knew it would be. Glad I didn’t go.

Tuesday: left shortly after five. Used my gift card at Dominos again, this time on a large ground beef, bacon, and onion thin crust pizza. Saved half for today’s lunch.

Ceil had gone to her women’s ministry. There had been a stabbing at the nearby hotel earlier yesterday, where many of the women stay.

Heard Winnie whining as I pulled into the garage, but when I came inside she was sitting in her crate waiting patiently. Then she was super excited to see me. She loves to fetch the tennis ball, which was good. We played inside and outside. Later on we tried to keep her engaged, so she’d sleep when we did. I went to bed earlier, but through the night Winnie was quiet again.

Tomorrow we switch over to a new phone system at work, which will take time to get used to. Not sure if the folks who’ve been working from home will come to set up their phones. As usual, I’m still swamped with work.

W&MC are at Hilton Head this week with her family. Today is MC’s birthday. Anna is dog-sitting Okie.

Sad news: the guy we work with at our supplier in Anniston lost his 24 year-old son in an automobile accident last night. A co-worker's wife passed away.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:5-12a: Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on My account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:21-22: You have heard that it was said to those of old, ’You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be liable for judgement’, but I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgement, whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council, and whoever says ‘You fool!” will be liable to the hell of fire.

King David said in Psalm 51:17: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

I’m trying to take the time to study verses like these, re-typing them, letting the words sink in all the more, determining whether or not I’m actually following that verse. It’s one thing to copy and paste a meme of a Bible verse, or see the posted verse is one you’re familiar with and move on.

I work hard to be open minded. So easy to be close-minded. Don’t confuse close-minded people with the facts. Their minds are already made up. Don’t expect them to listen to someone else’s side of the story. They know what’s right, and that’s that. God may extend grace, but not a close-minded person (unless they have an underlying motive).

Louis Oosthuizen fell victim to his social-media manager's mistake. Like many golfers, he hired someone to post on social media - who posted wrong information, or a photo of the wrong golfer. Not the first time this has happened.

JACKIE ROBINSON  [SABR Bio] is the most recent first baseman to lead the league in bases stolen. Jackie played first base in 1947 when he led the NL in SB with 29.  Every season leader since has played a different position. He homered in his final regular season game, on 30-Sep-1956.  Last game ever was G7 ’56 WS…He went hitless. He holds the Live Ball Era record for most career steals of home. Tied with Frankie Frisch with 19 all-time, good for 9th best on the career list. Some of Frisch’s were before the Modern Era.  Robinson had an additional very famous one in the 1955 WS.

Unwritten Rules

Yes, I said I quit reading Uni Watch. But today's topic piqued my interest: baseball's unwritten rules. The way Paul started his column, it appeared he would be siding with all the youngsters telling us old traditionalists to take a hike. Instead Paul dug deep to show how some of these unwritten rules trace back to the Ten Commandments, the Golden Rule, and the Seven Deadly Sins. I'm still waiting to see a video of a bat-flipper accidentally injuring someone with a wayward flipped bat (and getting tossed by a stogey old-school umpire)..

https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__uni-2Dwatch.com_&d=DwICAg&c=UXihhqr7vvdA-hrKyTiC1Q&r=wMWwaEbn9nr4zXI4p6CDP7FGwn1DrBd77MJElrWsP6U&m=DN-7DgM-ZMdpQt4V8NgFEzZdNd-6F2wHG7JNYWZ24mg&s=A4Uiy9WPQ95uoizY7M4T5iZf20E1aBQxbU6MtxiQPXk&e=

Friday night's Braves-Pirates game got so out of hand that Ronald Acuña wanted to hit left-handed. Why did the coaches say no? It wasn't just Snit. Not only would it have broken one of baseball's unwritten rules, more importantly Acuna could've gotten hurt. The one time Jose Canseco went in to pitch, he hurt himself.

https://sports.yahoo.com/braves-pirates-ronald-acuna-jr-hit-left-handed-snitker-mlb-030111773.html

JOSE CANSECO  [SABR Bio] is the most recent player to be a major league teammate with his twin brother, on OAK in 1990 with twin Ozzie. David Wells described him as being able to hula hoop in a Cheerio. In his autobiography, Wells described facing Canseco in the minors.  When he saw him later, he was surprised at the physical change and wondered what Canseco was eating. He's probably the only player who wants to be given an error. Has said many times that the ball that bounced off his head should be scored as an error for him, not a solo HR for CLE's DH Carlos Martinez. The winning difference in the game was one run.

People love to hate them some Tim Tebow. Why? What wrong did he ever do? If a guy wants to play baseball, why can't he? If a coach wants him on his team, what's wrong with that? Why not hate on the team, who signed him as an obvious publicity stunt? Tebow may not be my favorite player, but how could I speak badly of him? He's the second-greater college football player ever, behind you know who. If nothing Tebow is an encourager and leader. Always hustles. Gives it his all. Builds up, doesn't tear down. Can the same be said of Colin Kaepernick or Terrell Owens?  Maybe Urban Meyer wants to take the spotlight off Trevor Lawrence.

https://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/mike-bianchi-commentary/os-sp-tim-tebow-urban-meyer-jaguars-hate-20210522-j3ic7cqxyvfs5hchljwljtrsqa-story.html

UFOs are real but might not be aliens — and that's somehow more terrifying.

https://www.mic.com/p/ufos-are-real-but-might-not-be-aliens-thats-somehow-more-terrifying-78538580

Denison: a different take on UFO's: John Stonestreet notes, "The universe we live in has properties one would expect if it were, in fact, designed by a God who had us in mind when he made the place." John points to the work of Cambridge-educated philosopher of science Stephen Meyer and others. They demonstrate scientifically that gravity, electromagnetism, nuclear forces, and other laws are precisely calibrated to make life possible. A naturalistic worldview simply cannot explain the fine-tuned nature of the universe we inhabit.

Monday: worked from before 7:45 am past 5:30 pm. Drove straight home to see C and the pup.

Winnie was happy to see me. We went outside and played while C watered the flowers Winnie loves the water. Later C went to Trader Joes and I took her outside again. Ceil says Winny, I say Winnie. When C came to bed she closed the bedroom door. I think Winnie started in the bathroom on the tile, then later slept next to C's side of the bed. Made no fuss. The first time I woke up I didn't see her anywhere. At 5:30 I got up and looked in the bathroom for Winnie, and she came to me from C's side of the bed. I went back to sleep for another hour with Winnie on the bed, laying near my feet quietly. This morning C went to the Y, and Winnie was happy in her crate. Later C took her to the vet for the first time.

Supper was spaghetti and broccoli. Played on my laptop, but only half as much as usual. I went to be early. Tired.

Might pick up another pizza for supper. We'll see. Our office won a sales award, and everyone received restaurant gift certificates. A choice between things like Uber Eats and Dominos of Pizza Hut. I thought it was only ten dollars so I chose Dominos. When it came it was for $25.00. I can probably get three or four pizzas. I like the thin crispy crust.

Austin Riley was named NL player of the week.

Seems like the longer the Falcons hold on to Julio Jones, the less they will be able to get in trade for him. But I don't think they can trade him until June. I say trade him. He's great, but gets hurt so much. The team can use the cap space. Plus they have several good receivers, including that top draft pick.
