2022 Peachtree Road Race

Woke at 5 am. Left home at 545. Got to Anna's at 630. W&MC picked us up. Walked 1-1/4 miles across 400 around Lenox, past Weiuca to the start near Phipps.

Started at 8 am with W and Anna. Big crowd by the time our N pack started. Lots of walkers who didn't stay to the right. All across the road. At the Publix Will found a porty potty, then snuck past us. Stopped at SPdL to pose for Deborah and fist bump Doc.
Made decent time down the hill, but Anna was already wearing out. I encouraged her to pour cups of water over her head, and she obliged. Probably the hottest Peachtree that I could remember.

Walked up the hills, then resumed running and walking. Stopped at Bellwood Coffee at 1776 to visit Shivonne, MC, Willis Norman, and Thomas.
A short visit before resuming the journey, with Thomas in tow. Even more walkers now to weave around, plus several uphills to Colony Square. Waved to Thomas's father and brother at the turn onto 10th. Ran under the photo bridge, though I'm sure several other photographers had captured me walking.

As we ran down the hill toward the finish line I veered right to the command center, where the announcer was calling out encouragement. I held up three fingers on my right hand and five on my left. The announcer understood, and congratulated me for finishing my 35th Peachtree Road Race.

We collected our t-shirts, then took a right across the grass to get PowerAde. No bags this year, so the Morgan's couldn't load up on free fresh peaches (they probably brought their own bags from home). From 10th and Monroe we backtracked into the park, found a rare break in the fence to access the beltway, a safer and more picturesque route back to Anna's house 2-1/4 miles from the finish line.
Drove Will home and stopped by two Krogers looking for my favorite drinks (without success). When I got home shortly after 11 am, I had covered almost 10-1/2 miles and 19000 steps.
Matthew and Will had cooked lamb yesterday evening until 9:30 before eating. M stayed up most of the night to cook more meat. C cooked all day in preparation for tonight's party at Joel Norman's house.
